Kat Von D has revealed what she looks like now after inking out 80% of her body with tattoos.
The 42-year-old tattoo artist announced in October that she was going to cover all of her brightly coloured tattoos with black ink, saying she was tired of her current appearance.
She’s recently covered all of her visible tattoos with black ink in photos posted online.
Kat is currently getting some of her tattoos removed with laser treatments, and she’s been sharing updates with her Instagram followers, including photos of a rose tattoo on her neck being lasered.
The TV personality previously opened up about her decision while talking to Inked Magazine.
She confessed that she’d grown tired of many of the tattoos she’d gotten over the years.

Kat explained that she contacted tattoo artist Hoode, who specializes in blackout tattoos, to start the process.
The LA Ink star said it was incredibly rewarding to watch him transform messes into beautiful tattoos with his signature blackwork style.
Initially, I only planned to get a single arm tattooed, but I quickly realized I wanted tattoos all over my body.
Last October, Kat shared a video on Instagram detailing her blackout tattoo process. She explained it took 17 sessions and nearly 40 hours of work to cover approximately 80% of her body with black ink.
The former reality star responded to negative comments with a message encouraging people to remember that beauty is subjective. She suggested considering that what one person finds unattractive, another might find beautiful.
Kat removed many of her older tattoos because they no longer reflected who she is now or the life she currently lives.
The singer explained that while some people don’t mind being reminded of the past, they personally became weary of it, finding the constant reminders upsetting whenever they looked in the mirror.
I also appreciate the way it looks. It’s a personal preference, but I find it really pleasing to have smooth, hair-free skin.

The blackout began with Kat covering all of her tattoos except for the portrait of her father on her arm.
She shared with her followers that it felt great to finally cover up tattoos she’d gotten when she used to drink.
Kat confessed those relationships were simply points of reference during difficult periods in her life, and she thought Kat’s subsequent change in appearance was a positive one, describing it as ‘nice and clean’.
Recently, Kat has been reinventing herself and is now prioritizing music. She had to set it aside for a while to focus on launching Kat Von D Beauty back in 2008.
‘Music has always been my biggest passion,’ she elaborated, ‘but I think I let a decade or two get consumed by filming TV shows and running my old makeup line.
I’m not upset about the projects I’ve taken on in the past, but I do wish I’d started sharing my music with the world earlier.
And Kat wants fans to know this wasn’t a passion she came up with on a whim.
It’s not surprising people doubted me when they heard I was starting a music career,” the artist recalled. “I understand why – there aren’t many successful examples of entertainers who’ve been taken seriously as musicians.
I’m currently focused on finishing the new album and getting ready for the tour that will follow. That’s my priority right now.
Kat has been in the industry for a long time and has learned to ignore criticism. She’s confident in her work and doesn’t let other people’s opinions bother her.
She explained that social media often amplifies negativity, making it seem bigger than it actually is. Her advice was to either learn to ignore it or prevent it from disrupting your life.

However, that doesn’t mean entrepreneurs aren’t affected by or bothered by criticism.
Kat added that ‘most of the time’ she is ‘just annoyed at ignorance when it comes to haters.’
The celebrity hasn’t just changed how she looks recently; she’s also gone through a significant personal transformation.
In 2023, Kat moved to Indiana with her husband, Leafar Seyer (originally Rafael Reyes), and their five-year-old son, Leafar. At that time, she also left witchcraft and became a Christian.
You know, I used to be a city person, but I made a big change and moved to the countryside in Indiana – seriously, it’s pretty remote! And honestly, it’s the best decision I ever made. I absolutely love the slower pace and simpler way of life out here.
I’m so excited to share that my family and I have purchased some beautiful land for our future homestead! We’re dreaming up all sorts of plans, but first, we’re focusing on finishing the renovations on our Victorian home. Once that’s complete, we’ll be able to fully turn our attention to creating our dream homestead.

In a November interview on the “Relatable with Allie Beth Stuckey” podcast, Kat explained that she turned to faith because she was seeking purpose and answers, like many others, but was looking in the wrong places.
Kat- who got sober 18 years ago – also threw away all her books on witchcraft.
She explained that she no longer wanted to rely on these things, seeing them as hindrances in her life.
I’m really focused on my faith in Jesus, and I believe that path is the right one for me, even if it’s challenging. Things like meditation, spiritual practices, or connecting with nature just don’t feel like true solutions for what I’m seeking; they feel like temporary fixes.
You know, I’ve found that simplifying things and cutting out distractions is the key to my productivity and peace of mind. It’s honestly just what helps *me* thrive – everyone’s different, but that’s my personal approach.
