President Trump and the hosts of ABC’s “The View” have often publicly clashed, and these disagreements have become a regular part of the show, which is famous for its lively debates on current events and entertainment.
The popular “Hot Topics” segment on “The View,” which often criticizes Trump, has recently stopped focusing on him, leading to rumors that the Trump administration might be considering a response to the show.
Whoopi Goldberg, host of ‘The View,’ and her panel haven’t commented on ABC’s decision to temporarily halt ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’ after strong criticism of Kimmel’s remarks about Charlie Kirk, a right-wing activist who was recently killed. Kimmel said on his show Monday that supporters of Donald Trump were trying to distance the alleged shooter, Tyler Robinson, from their group and using the tragedy for political gain.
Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Chairman Brendan Carr has suggested that the talk show “The View” could be under review to determine if it should be considered a legitimate news program. If so, it wouldn’t have to follow the FCC’s rules requiring equal airtime for different viewpoints.

SAG-AFTRA and WGA protest the decision to pull the late-night show after FCC chairman’s threats.
It was noticeable that there was no immediate reaction after news about Kimmel surfaced on Wednesday. This silence was especially striking considering that late-night hosts Stephen Colbert, Seth Meyers, and Jon Stewart all used their shows on Thursday night to criticize the decision made by the network, which is owned by Walt Disney Co. The network’s move has received widespread condemnation within the entertainment industry, leading to significant protests both at Disney’s headquarters and outside Kimmel’s studio on Hollywood Boulevard.
I have to say, I was really struck by the silence coming from ‘The View’ yesterday. It’s hard to ignore the fact that Disney, their parent company, previously paid a hefty $15 million to Donald Trump’s library as part of a settlement. This all stemmed from some inaccurate statements made about Trump by ABC News’ George Stephanopoulos, and it feels like that history is definitely coloring the current conversation – or, more accurately, the *lack* of one.
Wallace stated that the women involved showed no fear and the issue wasn’t initially discussed. He added that ABC is clearly taking the matter seriously and responding to it on a larger scale.
I was really bothered last July when Trump started attacking “The View” and openly called for it to be cancelled. It all seemed to stem from Joy Behar simply saying he seemed envious of President Obama, and honestly, it felt like a really overreaction and an attempt to silence anyone who criticizes him.
White House spokesperson Taylor Rogers strongly criticized Joy Behar in a statement, calling her an unsuccessful and biased critic of President Trump. Rogers suggested Behar should consider her own envy of Trump’s widespread popularity, implying her show could face cancellation if she doesn’t.

Television
Jimmy Kimmel’s show was taken off the air indefinitely, and the hosts of the four major late-night talk shows all talked about the decision during their programs.
Unlike the current silence regarding the president, Goldberg and her co-hosts strongly criticized Trump after he spoke negatively about the show at a campaign rally last year.
Trump told the crowd he had watched ‘The View,’ calling the hosts ‘really dumb,’ which prompted boos from the audience.
He remarked that politics can change people in odd ways, then shared a story about hiring Goldberg as a comedian before she entered politics. He described her act as extremely vulgar and offensive, saying he was so put off he vowed never to work with her again.
The next day’s episode of “The View” began with the hosts walking on stage as Christina Aguilera’s song “Dirrty” played.
Goldberg directly confronted Trump, stating, “I was very clear about who I was, and I meant it… Seriously, how could you not realize that after hiring me four times? It’s unbelievable that you didn’t know what you were getting.”
Sunny Hostin, a co-host and legal analyst for ABC News, jokingly thanked Donald Trump for consistently “providing us with material” for their reporting, referencing his alleged crimes and frequent falsehoods. She said his actions, while problematic, actually helped them do their jobs.
Acknowledging her background as a prosecutor, she said, “I’ll admit, I may not be in court as often as you are… But like Vice President Kamala Harris, I’ve spent my career prosecuting people who commit sexual offenses, so thank you for continuing to create a need for professionals like us.”
Hostin ended by inviting Trump onto “The View,” playfully offering him a free mug and adding a jab about his recent mugshot.
