Okay, so Sentinels getting knocked out of Champions is a *big* deal. It totally wrecked a ton of people’s Pick’Em predictions – over 60% of us had them going further! It’s crazy how much one team’s loss can shake things up.
Going into VALORANT Champions 2025, over 60% of fans believed Sentinels would make it to the Playoffs based on their Pick’Ems predictions. Unfortunately, with Sentinels now eliminated, those predictions won’t come true.
Sentinels and Pick’Em predictions
Sentinels’ hopes of making the Playoffs ended on September 19th, along with many fans’ Pick’Ems predictions. They lost a close series to Xi Lai Gaming (XLG), a Chinese team that was the underdog but still managed to win. While Sentinels was expected to win, with strong support from fans and betting odds, they couldn’t overcome XLG.
VALORANT Champions Tour announced on X (formerly Twitter) that, according to data from Amazon Web Services, over 60% of fans predicted Sentinels would make it to the Playoffs. Unfortunately, with Sentinels’ loss to XLG, more than half of those who made predictions in Pick’Ems will have those predictions proven incorrect. If you were one of those fans who predicted Sentinels would advance, we feel for you.
VALORANT Champions 2025
Paper Rex from Group A, which also includes Sentinels and XLG, has already made it to the Playoffs. XLG will now play GIANTX to decide who else from the group advances. In Group B, FNATIC has qualified, and MIBR, Rex Regum Qeon, and Bilibili Gaming will compete for the last playoff spot.
NRG is the first North American team to make it to the Playoffs. Team Liquid and DRX will battle for the last spot after Liquid defeated the 2024 Champions. Over in Group D, Team Heretics have qualified for the Playoffs for the first time. G2 Esports, T1, and Dragon Ranger Gaming will compete for the final qualifying position.
Just because Sentinels didn’t go as planned in your Pick’Ems doesn’t mean the competition is over! You’ll have another chance to show off your VCT expertise in the second stage, so be sure to make your predictions as soon as all the playoff teams are decided.
