Guy Sebastian reveals shock health update after ‘hell’ spinal surgery and says he still can’t feel his fingers: ‘I couldn’t take the pain anymore’

Singer Guy Sebastian recently revealed he had two spinal surgeries within a week to address severe nerve pain.

The 43-year-old Australian singer shared a photo on Instagram in August, revealing he was in a lot of pain after having surgery.

He went on Sunrise Friday morning to let fans know he was recovering from a difficult medical procedure, though he was still waiting for feeling to return to his fingers.

“I’m doing okay now, but it’s been incredibly difficult,” he admitted to Natalie Barr and Matt Shirvington. “The pain became unbearable.”

‘I had no feeling in my hand. I was dropping my guitar picks. I knew something needed to be done.

I had spinal surgery, and unfortunately, I needed a second one just a week later. It was a really difficult experience, but I’m recovering well now.

‘I knew I had to get everything good because I’m touring next year, for the most part of next year. Yeah, it’s been a rough few weeks, I can’t lie about that,’ he added.

When Nat and Shirvo checked in on how his hand was feeling, the musician confessed he still had no sensation in his thumb, index finger, and middle finger – he couldn’t feel them completely.

He was relieved to say the pain had disappeared and expressed his gratitude. He felt fortunate to have had access to surgery.

Fans were surprised late in August to learn that Guy had spinal surgery to address nerve pain.

The pop star took to Instagram to share that he was recovering after undergoing surgery.

Guy posted a picture from his hospital bed showing him with a catheter, and explained he was in a lot of pain before getting it.

Despite his predicament, Guy gave his fans a cheerful thumbs-up in the image.

Captioning the post, Guy revealed he had been experiencing unbearable nerve pain in his spine.

People often say bad things happen in groups of three. While this year has had some wonderful moments for me, it’s also been really challenging because I’ve been dealing with a significant amount of physical pain, as Guy explained.

He explained that the most difficult part has been severe nerve pain radiating down his right side from his spine, adding that he wouldn’t want anyone else to experience such suffering.

‘It just never stops and it’s all-consuming, while trying to work, travel, do gigs etc.’

Guy added he was pleased the surgery was completed and he looked forward to making a full recovery.

Oh my gosh, you guys, he *finally* had the surgery yesterday! He posted that he’s so thankful it’s done, and I’m just praying it actually *works*. He really wants to feel better and get his strength back in his arm, and honestly, I’m just living for that moment with him! I’m so happy he took this step, and I’m sending all the positive vibes his way!

I’m working hard to recover and be fully ready for touring again early next year. It’s tough going right now and I’m in a lot of pain, but I’m determined to get there and make a strong comeback.
