Gemma Atkinson has announced the wedding date for her and her fiancé, Gorka Marquez, providing an update on their plans.
The radio presenter, age 40, and the professional dancer, 35, first connected while working together on Strictly Come Dancing in 2017, though they weren’t paired as dance partners.
Their connection quickly grew into a romantic relationship, and they began dating in 2018. They got engaged in February 2021 and now have two children: a five-year-old daughter named Mia and a two-year-old son named Thiago.
Gemma shared that the couple wants to postpone their wedding until their son is older so he can be involved in the celebration.
She told the Express they’ve considered several options for the wedding. They’ve talked about having it in Spain so her partner’s family could attend, or a small, private ceremony at a registry office or hotel in Manchester, followed by a larger celebration later.
We’re planning to hold off on that until Thiago is a little older, probably next year or the year after, since he’s only two years old right now.

‘If he’s a bit older, he could be involved in it, which would be really nice.’
In 2022, Gemma explained that she and Gorka had put off their wedding because they were both so busy. She’d previously mentioned she’d prefer to focus on having another baby instead of planning a big wedding.
As a lifestyle expert, I’m always talking about the importance of quality time with loved ones, and let me tell you, it’s tough when schedules clash! My partner, Gorka, is traveling constantly for work this year, and honestly, we’re looking at only four days together the entire time. It really highlights the challenges of balancing a relationship with a demanding career, but we’re making it work!
He’s been constantly busy with two Strictly Come Dancing tours one after the other, and now he’s preparing for another season of the show this fall. We haven’t had any time at all to start planning anything!
This news follows the cancellation of Gemma and Gorka’s reality show, even though it was very popular and they had hinted at another season being planned.
Gemma and Gorka: Life Behind The Lens offered a glimpse into the private lives of the couple and their two children.
However The Sun reported it has been cancelled after two series.

A representative from UKTV, the network that broadcast Gemma and Gorka’s show, stated that it was a pleasure working with Two Rivers Media on two seasons of the series.
Gemma and Gorka are currently working on other commitments, so there aren’t any plans for a new series right now. However, we hope to collaborate with them again in the future.
