Julia Roberts has admitted that there is an actress who deeply intimidates her.
She is the Oscar-winner’s After The Hunt costar Chloe Sevigny.
The actress known for *Pretty Woman* told Variety about her initial impressions when she met the famous writer from *The New Yorker*.
‘I was so excited and intimidated about meeting Chloe,’ shared the 57-year-old Roberts.
We were all gathered around the kitchen table at my house, chatting and running lines while Julia’s daughter, Hazel, fixed herself some lunch.
Our producer, Allan Mandelbaum, told us Chloe would be arriving any minute. Ayo and I glanced at each other, making eye contact as we waited.
Luca asked, confused, and I told him I was scared. Ayo agreed, and Hazel announced she was leaving. Almost immediately, the doorbell rang, and Hazel decided to leave through the garage. We were all incredibly excited and a little overwhelmed.

During the group Variety interview, Sevigny even made Roberts cry.
The waterworks began when Savigny said she grew to really admire Roberts.
Sevigny admitted she couldn’t get enough of Julia Roberts. She explained that on the flight home, she watched three of Roberts’ movies – ‘Notting Hill’ and ‘My Best Friend’s Wedding,’ though she couldn’t recall the third – and just wished there was more to watch. She kept thinking, ‘I just want more Julia!’
That was when Roberts actually teared up.
Sevigny explained that she didn’t want the experience to end, and was glad she could revisit the show’s episodes whenever she wanted.
I connected with her immediately when we first met. Things really deepened when she invited us to rehearse at her beach house. She was incredibly kind and generous with everything.
The director also touched on Roberts’ warm nature.
He explained that Julia is a fantastic cook, known for both her salmon and her banana bread.

Roberts added she also makes French toast.
Guadagnino described Julia as a wonderful person – a friend, a mother, and someone who genuinely cares about others. He said that simply spending time with her, whether at home or doing everyday things, is a truly enjoyable experience.
She arrived on set and immediately started making an effort to get to know everyone. It wasn’t just for show – she genuinely seemed interested in the crew and learned all their names surprisingly quickly, even before I did.
Roberts then noted that it was not easy for her to get into character for her new film.
‘The hardest part for me was not being sympathetic and empathetic,’ said the movie icon.

My natural instinct is to comfort and care for people, to hold them close and protect them. But with her, that didn’t feel right. She needed space, and it wasn’t the moment to offer comfort. She’s so different from anyone I’ve ever wanted to nurture; it went against everything I usually feel.
In the end it was ‘really exhausting’ for Roberts.
I find her lifestyle confusing and hard to understand. That’s why I appreciate Luca always guiding me and keeping me grounded. Once he does, things feel much easier and more enjoyable.
She also praised her colleague, Michael, saying she was often amazed by his performances. She explained that when they worked together, she’d turn to the director, Luca, and express her disbelief at how brilliant and unexpected Michael’s acting was. She felt so captivated watching him that she sometimes felt like she’d forgotten her own role in the scene, finding his work truly exceptional.
