Max George has been back in the hospital while he continues to recover from several heart surgeries.
In December 2024, singer Tom Parker, age 37, had a pacemaker fitted after doctors discovered a heart block during an emergency operation.
He’s had regular hospital checkups since then, and even needed another surgery when doctors found the wires from his pacemaker were implanted too far down.
On Thursday, he posted a photo on Instagram from his hospital bed. He was seen pouting at the camera and giving a peace sign while waiting for the doctors to examine him.
He shared a photo explaining he wasn’t expecting to stay in the hospital for very long, writing, ‘Just needed a little maintenance before heading to the USA!!!’
The Strictly Come Dancing star will be reuniting with his bandmate Siva Kaneswaran in Orlando, Florida on October 10th to kick off the first show of The Wanted 2.0’s US tour.

Oh my gosh, you will NOT believe this! Remember how devastated we all were when they had to cancel the Manchester Cathedral show back in February? It was because poor Max was having heart problems, and we were all so worried. But now, it sounds like things are getting better, and that’s just the best news ever! I’m so relieved!
The performance scheduled for February 27th had to be cancelled because Max needed a second heart surgery.
The show has been postponed due to a health issue. A new date will be announced soon. For more information, please note that the postponement is related to health concerns.
Max shared the news personally in a video posted on The Wanted 2.0’s Instagram, saying he was devastated.
He explained that a second heart operation has delayed his recovery, and he won’t be well enough in time. He’s understandably very disappointed.
Siva and I are currently figuring out the best time to do it, but we’re definitely going to get it done soon. We just need to settle on a date.
He shared the news that their Manchester show on February 27th has been postponed, saying he’s disappointed and looking forward to recovering so they can get back to performing. He sent his love to fans.
Max received a pacemaker in December after being hospitalized for heart problems. Unfortunately, he needed a second surgery a few weeks later due to some concerning physical symptoms.

Oh my gosh, you won’t BELIEVE what he posted! Back in March, he actually shared a photo of himself *on the operating table* – can you even imagine?! Then, when he finally came home from the hospital, he showed us the scar! It looked so painful, but he was so brave to share it with us. I was seriously worried, but so touched he let us in on what he was going through.
He shared that his doctors played music by his favorite band, Oasis, during his medical procedure. However, he also acknowledged that he has a long recovery process ahead, as it could take several months for the swelling in his heart to go down.
A few weeks ago, Max experienced chest pains and had to return to the hospital. Doctors discovered that one of the wires from his heart monitor had been inserted too far.
The second operation lasted around two hours, but thankfully it went well! The staff were really nice and even let me listen to Oasis during the procedure. It’s been a bump in the road, but I’m trying to stay positive.
I’ve been dealing with some health issues recently, but I’m getting a lot of tests done to make sure everything is okay.
My heart inflammation (myocarditis) should clear up in a few weeks or months, and I’m confident I’ll quickly be back to feeling my best!
I just wanted to say a huge thank you to all of you for the incredibly kind messages and support I’ve received lately. It’s been a challenging few weeks, and honestly, your kindness has meant the world to me. I truly appreciate each and every one of you. – Max

I was so worried when I heard about Max’s surgery! He actually talked about being scared because the doctors told him there was a risk of a really dangerous bleed on his heart. It just broke my heart to think about it – he’s so amazing, and the thought of anything happening to him is terrifying!
He told The Sun on Sunday that he initially felt he was getting better, but became anxious when doctors said he needed another surgery. He explained the procedure – removing the pacemaker wires from his heart – carried a risk of internal bleeding, but it was a necessary step in his recovery.
The singer explained that he hadn’t been feeling well since his pacemaker was implanted, and his discomfort steadily increased over time.
He explained that even after getting a pacemaker, he continued to experience a persistent, worsening fluttering feeling for several weeks as he recovered.
My heart would race, causing a jarring sensation that made me feel jumpy and caused my chest to tremble.
Let me tell you, the night before my surgery was rough. I was incredibly nervous and honestly couldn’t sleep a wink! My mind kept racing, imagining all the things that *could* go wrong. It’s completely normal to feel that way before a big procedure, but it was definitely a challenging night.
Max had the procedure after receiving support from his girlfriend, Maisie Smith, and his mother, Babs. He was awake during it, but given strong medication to keep him calm.
