Love Island star Sam Gowland is rushed to hospital after being bitten by a venomous snake just hours after touching down in Bali

Love Island star Sam Gowland has been rushed to hospital after being bitten by a venomous snake

The 30-year-old reality TV personality, known from MTV’s *Geordie Shore*, shared a frightening experience on Instagram on Wednesday.

Sam shared that he’d only been in Bali, Indonesia for a single day when a snake bit his ankle after he accidentally stepped on it.

He posted a picture of the snake on Instagram and asked his followers if it was venomous and whether he needed to seek medical attention.

I can’t believe this! Just my luck – on day two of my Bali trip, I accidentally stepped on a snake while getting off my motorbike and it bit my ankle!

‘Ankles gone swollen, anyone know if it’s poisonous or if I should go hospital or somet?’

Sam shared an update from BaliMed hospital, writing, ‘Here we go… oh my gosh! Apparently, it’s highly venomous and I need antivenom.’

Earlier this year, Sam faced criticism and ridicule from fans after posting videos about being supposedly banned from returning to England due to his online comments critical of the country.

Sam first had a quick appearance on Love Island in 2017, then joined Geordie Shore on MTV for a short time from 2018 to 2019. He later decided to leave reality television and moved to Dubai.

Even so, Sam remains active on social media. Lately, he’s been creating videos criticizing the UK, seemingly to encourage people to enroll in his online business course.

His followers were confused by his recent announcements, as he stated he’d changed his mind and was now planning to return to England. He explained he was homesick, missed his family, and was looking for familiar comforts and better work options.

Last month, Sam posted a TikTok that appeared to show him on a flight returning to the UK. A week later, he shared another video stating he was being held at border control by British authorities due to his critical videos about England.

He filmed himself in what he claimed was the border waiting area, saying he couldn’t believe he was being held because of critical comments he’d made about England online.

Okay, so I’m currently in a bit of a holding pattern, waiting to find out if I’ll be granted entry into England. I wanted to share a quick heads-up: if you’re ever tempted to criticize England online, I’d strongly advise against it. This new government is taking online commentary *very* seriously and isn’t afraid to act on it. Just a friendly warning from me to you!

Two weeks after the initial incident, Sam posted another TikTok video on Sunday, surprisingly stating that he’s been banned from returning to England for good. He claims border control took his passport because of ‘offensive remarks’ he made.

He announced to his followers that he’s been permanently banned from returning to England due to critical comments he made about the country online.

As you probably know, I was stopped at border control the other day and held for three days. They also took my passport.

They’ve officially banned me from returning to England, which is devastating. But, I’ve accepted it and I’m now back home in Dubai. It was a good run, and I enjoyed my time there, but this is where I’ll be staying now.

It might actually be a good thing in the long run, but it seems strange that a British citizen would be barred from entry simply for expressing unpopular opinions online. I honestly wasn’t aware that was even possible. It makes you wonder what’s happening with freedom of speech these days.

While some fans were confused by his story, others quickly pointed out how unrealistic it was. They noted it wouldn’t have been legally possible and wondered how he could have traveled back to Dubai without a passport.

I seriously can’t believe they’re trying to keep him from coming home! It’s outrageous – you’d be arrested if you’d actually *done* something wrong, not just… blocked at the border! And now he’s stuck back in Dubai, *without even his passport*?! It’s a nightmare, I’m so worried about him!

That’s not going to happen! They won’t revoke your British citizenship. It’s just misinformation – if you only have a British passport, they can’t take it away.

Since you have a British passport, it’s legally protected and cannot be confiscated while you’re traveling internationally – you can research this under international travel law and common law. Also, if someone has your passport, how did you manage to return to Dubai?
