Kadeena Cox, known for appearing on I’m A Celebrity, recently shared a video of herself in a wheelchair, explaining she’s used one since being diagnosed with multiple sclerosis (MS) in 2014.
The 34-year-old Paralympic athlete revealed on Instagram Monday that she recently received a new diagnosis, following a previous stroke.
In 2021, Kadeena talked on the ITV show about needing assistance with using the toilet due to difficulties caused by her health condition while in camp.
In a recent video, Kadeena participated in a popular online trend. She acted like she was crying, then made a funny face, while jokingly saying, ‘Finding out you have multiple sclerosis and need a wheelchair at 23.’
She shared a photo with a positive spin, captioning it: ‘When life gives you lemons… embracing my best self, wheelchair and all!’
After Kadeena shared her experience with multiple sclerosis on social media, many people reached out to offer their support.

Someone diagnosed with a condition requiring a wheelchair in their early fifties described it as a difficult experience, referring to themselves as becoming a ‘Wheelie’.
I’m surprised to see this happening to you, considering how young you are. You seem to be coping really well, and I know everyone deals with things privately. Just keep doing what you’re doing – you’re amazing!
People offered support, sharing messages like ‘Sending you love’ and acknowledging the challenges of MS, with one person mentioning two friends battling the condition. Another shared their own diagnosis at age 24 and encouraged the recipient to be proud of their accomplishments, especially highlighting a gold medal win, regardless of their current situation.
Kadeena has previously revealed she was accused of ‘faking’ her disability.
She’s a highly decorated athlete, having won Paralympic gold medals in both athletics and cycling at the 2016 Games. She continued her success at the Tokyo Games in 2021, adding two more cycling titles to her impressive record.
Despite achieving success representing Team GB, she shared that some people have reacted negatively, refusing to acknowledge her disability.

Multiple sclerosis impacts the brain and nerves, but Kadeena continues to share upbeat videos of herself dancing online.
She feels she’s judged differently than other people with disabilities because her condition isn’t as obvious.
Kadeena, who lives with multiple sclerosis, told the BBC that she often receives criticism for using disabled parking spaces.
It’s understandable when people don’t offer me a priority seat on the train or bus. I also often see disbelief online – people saying they don’t believe I have a disability, or even accusing me of faking it to get benefits from the government.
‘It’s people and their ignorant or uneducated selves making comments and passing judgement.’
Kadeena is committed to continuing her advocacy for others facing similar challenges, but she acknowledges the negative comments she’s received have taken a toll on her mental well-being.
She shared that she’s been openly discussing her eating disorder, which has been a significant challenge. It’s something that often makes her re-evaluate her life.
Dealing with this new disability is really tough on my mental health. It’s hard when people constantly comment on it, and it feels like I’m always facing an uphill battle.

Honestly, some days it just hits me – what’s the point, you know? But then I think about *them* – all the fans who feel totally lost, like there’s no reason to even try anymore. That’s who I’m doing this for. It’s for every single one of them who needs a little hope, a little something to believe in. They’re the reason I keep going, always.
Soon after leaving the show ‘I’m A Celebrity’, Kadeena revealed that her multiple sclerosis was severely affecting her, to the point where she needed assistance going to the bathroom while she was on the program.
While filming at Gwrych Castle in Wales, Kadeena has been dealing with exhaustion, muscle spasms, and difficulty speaking clearly.
After the experience, she said: ‘I thought my MS would be nice to me.
Living with multiple sclerosis has been really tough. I constantly battled exhaustion, and muscle spasms were a major issue. At times, my speech became slurred, which understandably worried those around me.
There were times when I needed a lot of help – the other campmates actually had to assist me with things like getting into bed and using the toilet. It was a really difficult period.
Despite the challenges, Kadeena said she never considered leaving the show, explaining that she and her fellow contestants had a good time and supported each other through everything.
