Brendon Fevola reveals near-death experience on The Amazing Race – and speaks out on Ant Middleton’s shock exit from the show

Brendan Fevola, a radio personality, shared that he nearly choked while filming the reality show *The Amazing Race: Celebrity Edition*.

Former AFL star, 44, shared a surprising story on the Fifi, Fev and Nick radio show Tuesday, recalling an event that happened while he was competing on a reality show with his 18-year-old daughter, Leni.

I was shocked to hear about what happened to Brendan! He was actually in Uzbekistan, filming one of his eating challenges, when this terrifying incident occurred. It’s unbelievable, and even more frustrating, that the whole thing never even made it onto the show. It’s a crazy story he shared, and I’m just glad he’s okay.

The racers had to eat thirty bowls of a very thick, dark syrup made from sugarcane, which Brendan called molasses.

He explained that Georgie Tunny and Rob Mills, his fellow contestants, became ill after trying a local food that turned out to be more than they could handle.

‘They…had filled up two buckets of spew,’ he said. ‘And I’m going ”God what is happening here.”‘

He remembered the Racers being forced to finish bowls of molasses to find a hidden letter at the bottom – that letter would reveal where to go next.

Brendan explained that food briefly got lodged in his throat, but this moment wasn’t included in the episode when it aired on Monday.

‘I couldn’t breathe and a medic had to come…it was awful,’ he said.

On Tuesday’s Ffif, Fev and Nick show, Brendan discussed the drama surrounding claims of bullying and intimidation that happened on this season of The Amazing Race.

During a competition, radio host Luke Scott O’Halloran and his partner, known as ‘Sassy,’ were targeted with anti-LGBTQ+ insults by Dan Middleton, the brother of Ant Middleton.

After a disagreement, the host of SAS Australia and his brother were removed from the show for violating its rules.

From what I understand, Brendan really tried to calm things down. He actually put himself between Dan and those other social media personalities, trying to physically separate them and stop things from escalating. It was a brave thing to do, honestly.

During a heartfelt reunion, Scott told Brendan, “We really want to thank you for everything.”

‘Without you, we have no idea where that could have gone.

I witnessed it happen repeatedly – more than six times, actually. What really struck me was that you consistently did something so rare these days: you stood your ground and defended what you believed in, even when it wasn’t easy. It was incredibly inspiring to see.

Luke continued, ‘As you know, we’re talking about you on the radio and really singing your praises. But Scott and I have also talked privately a lot about how thankful we were for everything you did back then, Fev.’

During the segment, Brendan broke his silence over the incident.

‘I know you guys can’t really speak about it, but I was there,’ the footy champ began.

I heard what one of the contestants said – both to me and to you all before.

I want to apologize to both of you for the hurtful, homophobic language directed at you.

‘It’s just not on. I confronted the person, and then whatever happened, happened.

Luke, age 34, and Scott, 39, said the problems began while they were on a day off from filming in Nepal, at their hotel.

Last week, the pair told Sydney Confidential that Dan Middleton approached them on six separate occasions, making homophobic, offensive, and intimidating comments and gestures that left them feeling disturbed.

Each time Dan visited, his behavior became noticeably more hostile and confrontational.

He got very close to us, almost invading our personal space, and was encircled by other members of the cast who appeared just as uneasy as we felt.

Reports of the incident first emerged in April.

Ant Middleton, it is understood, was not involved but was disqualified along with his brother.

Brendan supposedly told producers he’d quit the show with his daughter, Leni, unless the Middleton brothers were taken off the project.

Ant and Dan were sent home and cut from the series shortly after.

Network Ten announced that a team was removed from the show after violating its rules.

Network 10 prioritizes the health, safety, and well-being of everyone who participates in our shows,” a spokesperson stated.

After a contestant broke the rules of the show during a day off from filming, one team on The Amazing Race Australia was immediately disqualified and sent home.
