Blizzard has finally shared the details of the Overwatch 2 and Persona 5 collaboration – it’s officially called Overwatch 2 x Phantom Thieves! Here’s a rundown of everything you need to know, including a preview of the new Phantom Thieves-themed skins and what to anticipate from the event launching tomorrow.
Overwatch 2 Phantom Thieves release date
From September 16th to 30th, the world of Persona 5’s Phantom Thieves is coming to Overwatch 2! Players can enjoy a special event with themed menus, a unique shop design, and new artwork created by artist Shigenori Soejima, along with plenty of hidden surprises to discover.
The game features a few hidden details, like Mercy’s Panther skin which includes rose petals reminiscent of Carmen, and Wuyang’s weapon design inspired by Arsène. Art director Dion Rogers also revealed that heroes now leave behind paint splashes as they move around.

Overwatch 2 is teaming up with Persona 5 to release five new legendary skins. Players can dress up Wuyang as Joker, Mercy as Panther, Lifeweaver as Fox, D.Va as Queen, and Genji as Skull.

Blizzard Entertainment first hinted at a collaboration between Overwatch 2 and Persona 5 with a video on YouTube in August 2025. Fans quickly guessed that Joker from Persona 5 would be featured as a playable skin, and now it’s confirmed – Wuyang will be receiving the Persona 5-inspired look!
According to Aimee Dennet, a product director at Overwatch 2, the development team is full of dedicated fans who infused their enthusiasm into subtle details throughout the game. For example, the team chose Wuyang for a Joker skin because both Wuyang and the Joker were recruited into their groups while still students, creating a shared backstory. Players can also discover hidden Easter eggs, including a recognizable location hidden within some of the game’s maps.
