Jana Hocking is finally spilling the beans on what really happened with rugby star Sam Burgess.
A sex columnist shared on her radio show that she and the 36-year-old former football star-now a coach-had a brief romantic connection. This happened after he suspected she’d written an article about him, and followed photos of them leaving a bar together in 2021.
‘I have slept with Sam Burgess – and it came about in the craziest way,’ she began.
The celebrity shared that she was out with friends at a bar in King’s Cross when Sam approached her. He had just finished a court hearing finalizing his divorce from Phoebe Hooke.
‘He was with his lawyer Bryan and he spotted me,’ she said.
Jana recently wrote an article explaining why she’s done dating football players, focusing on her past relationship with rugby star Todd Carney.
The article was published while Sam was in the middle of a very public and difficult divorce, where his wife publicly criticized him, according to Jana.
The situation escalated when the former rugby league player strongly accused Jana of fabricating the story about him. Her friends immediately jumped in to support her.
The football player instantly regretted the accusation and tried to make it up to the women by buying them a round of drinks.
‘It just took off from there,’ Jana confessed.
Unbeknownst to them, the two were being photographed while they chatted in the bar.
We were surprised to see photographers outside the bar, but we left together anyway – honestly, who *wouldn’t* want to date a tall, handsome guy?
The following morning, after he left me at my apartment, a journalist contacted me, revealing they knew I’d been with Sam Burgess at a bar the night before.
Despite Jana denying the tryst, the photos were published by the Sunday Telegraph.
She laughed, explaining that while things got a little chaotic in the bar, preventing truly awful photos, she was baffled by her own fashion choice: ‘Why on earth was I wearing joggers?’
Sam is now happily married to Lucy Burgess.
The couple share a son, Robbie, together and are currently expecting their second child.
The pair wed in October 2024 during a lavish Italian wedding after two years of dating.
The British footballer and influencer Phoebe Burgess were married for four years before separating in 2019.
The former couple share two children together – a son, Billy, and a daughter, Poppy.
