Dani Dyer is excited to rediscover her confidence and feel glamorous again now that she’s joined Strictly Come Dancing.
The 29-year-old reality TV star told The Daily Mail she’s enjoying the chance to wear revealing outfits on the BBC One dance competition. She explained that she used to be more cautious with her appearance when she first became known on Love Island.
Since appearing on the ITV2 dating show, Dani has married footballer Jarrod Bowen, which her father, Danny, a West Ham supporter, is thrilled about. The podcaster has also reassured her husband that he doesn’t need to worry about the show’s reputation for relationships not lasting.
As a mom of three, I’ve realized life’s too short not to enjoy it! I’m really embracing having fun and letting my personality shine – and honestly, I’m ready to show fans a side of me they haven’t seen before, a little more playful and daring, if you will.
She admitted she was excited to rediscover her sensuality. After focusing so intensely on motherhood – her oldest child is four – she found herself wondering if she still felt attractive.
Looking back at my time on Love Island, I regret not being more daring with my swimwear choices. I wish I’d worn the more revealing bikinis, and now I’m determined to be bolder and try new things.

Dani joked that her husband, Jarrod, 28, is more worried about being on camera during the show than about rumors of her being attracted to her dance partner. They’ve only been married for a few months, since May, but he’s more concerned about the attention than any potential ‘Strictly curse’ situation.
Dani Dyer, who has a four-year-old son named Santiago with her ex-boyfriend, and one-year-old twins Summer and Star with Jarrod, says appearing on Strictly Come Dancing will be her most difficult challenge since she was on Love Island in 2018.
She explained that she had recently gotten married and was very happy in her relationship. She mentioned her husband, Jarrod, is quite shy, and she worried about how he would react when cameras started filming him.
I’m definitely nervous, which is perfectly normal, but I’m trying to use that energy to my advantage. I’m also really excited – it’s starting to feel like it’s actually happening!
This is one of the largest projects I’ve worked on since appearing on Love Island. Being on that show meant being very sheltered – surrounded by other contestants in a villa – and we came off thinking people genuinely liked us as a couple. That was seven years ago, though.
This is incredibly exciting, and I’m going to try to relax and enjoy the moment as if it weren’t being broadcast.
Jarrod will be joined in the studio by her father, Danny, age 48, who recently won his first BAFTA TV Award.
Dani is hoping that watching her dance will encourage the former EastEnders actor to try dancing himself.

She shared that her dad is thrilled for her. He’s a fan of the show and previously came to support Rose Ayling-Ellis, getting emotional while watching her perform. He’s determined to stay composed this time, but is incredibly proud and happy for her.
He was so happy for me at my wedding and loved watching me dance – he really enjoys it because he’s a dancer himself! I definitely need to get him out on the dance floor.
Dani acknowledged she used to dance, but explained it was just as a hobby in a dance club when she was younger. She made it clear she doesn’t believe this gives her any edge over the other contestants.
I started dancing when I was very young and really enjoyed it. I used to go to a small dance school in the east end twice a week, on Tuesdays and Thursdays, but I gave it up when I became a teenager.
All I could focus on during rehearsals was the step-ball-change; I kept thinking, ‘I remember that part!’ Watching the professional dancers, though, made me realize I’d chosen the wrong career – I should have been a dancer, but I just don’t have the natural ability.
Rugby star Chris Robshaw, age 39, is also competing on the show and will be showing off his dance moves.
Former England captain and husband of opera singer Camilla Kerslake believes, just like Dani, that his partner won’t be affected by the curse.
Okay, so he was explaining it, and honestly, it was so insightful! He clarified that yeah, they got a bunch of playful messages about everything, but the real thing is *trust*. He sees his dance partner not just as a partner, but as a teammate – someone you completely rely on. It’s like, it’s all about that bond and knowing they’ve got each other’s backs. I just… I get it, you know? It’s perfect!
‘You have to fully immerse yourself and try and enjoy it.’
The former England captain is looking forward to competing again, saying he misses the excitement of rugby after his retirement in 2022.
He explained that performing live adds a thrilling energy to the experience. While it’s nerve-wracking, it’s also incredibly exciting – something he particularly missed after retiring from professional sports, as that ‘live buzz’ was a key part of the thrill.
