Reba McEntire is ready to say ‘I do!’

Country music icon, 70, has confirmed she’s engaged to actor Rex Linn, 68. She revealed the happy news while attending the 2025 Emmy Awards in Los Angeles on Sunday.

The couple, together since 2020, didn’t officially announce their engagement. It was revealed when an E! News reporter called them ‘fiancés’ during an interview.

People magazine reports that the two actors, who co-star on NBC’s “Happy’s Place,” shared a knowing smile and nod, exciting fans who have long hoped they would become a couple.

Although Reba McEntire and Rex Linn didn’t become a couple until five years ago, they originally met in the 1990s while working on the movie *The Gambler Returns: The Luck of the Draw*.

They weren’t close back then, but years later, destiny reunited them.

In 2020, when Reba McEntire was going through a particularly difficult time, Linn offered a kind act that proved to be a turning point.

The singer remembered that he received a call from his mother in 2020 when she became ill. They had reconnected shortly before this, while both appearing as guest stars on the show Young Sheldon.

We started talking and visiting in March 2020, and finally met up in June,” she said. “We’ve been together ever since.

Earlier this year, the celebrity told Fox News that she and her partner have a great relationship and get along well in all areas of their life. She even jokingly admitted he’s a better cook than she is.

We’re both huge fans of the Longhorns and the whole cowboy lifestyle. We both ended up in the entertainment business – he’s an actor, and I’m a singer, but I also enjoy acting. Now we’re able to act together, which is great!

He told WBIR Channel 10 that they’re very close friends and hope to become a couple and finish the race together.

This good news arrives only a month after she publicly spoke about the passing of her former stepson, Brandon Blackstock.

Last month, the country singer honored her former stepson by leaving a comment on an Instagram post from her son, Shelby Blackstock.

The 70-year-old singer wrote, “Very well said, Shelby. Yes, we will miss him so much,” and included several red and broken heart emojis.

Reba McEntire was married to Narvel Blackstock, the father of Brandon and Shelby, a film producer who is now 68, for 26 years, from 1989 until 2015.

Brandon, who had two children with Kelly Clarkson and was married to her for almost seven years before they separated in 2020, passed away from melanoma on August 7th at the age of 48.

Shelby, 35, posted a heartbreaking tribute to his late brother the day after Brandon’s death. 

We’re heartbroken by the loss of my brother, father, grandfather, and son,” he shared, along with some old photos. “No words can truly express how much we’re grieving.

Brandon Blackstock was a beloved member of our family-he was known for his humor, intelligence, and vibrant personality-and we will miss him greatly.

As someone who really values family, I was so touched by Shelby’s recent post. He shared that his older brother was a huge influence in his life, and he’s going to treasure all the lessons he learned from him – and honestly, who wouldn’t? He also mentioned holding onto so many wonderful memories of their time together, which is just beautiful. It’s a lovely reminder to appreciate those close to us.

He finished his touching message to his brother with these words: ‘We’ll always cherish Brandon and continue to love, remember, and celebrate his life.’

Reba McEntire has spoken fondly of Brandon in the past, saying she always thought of him as her own son.

In a 2021 interview with Entertainment Tonight, she described her relationship with Brandon, her stepson, saying he’s felt like a son to her for as long as she can remember and that she loves him as if he were her own biological child.
