The biggest surprise at the 2025 Emmys might have been a full-sized Labubu statue – the famous character made a memorable appearance!
Whether she’s known for amazing or questionable fashion choices on the red carpet, this celebrated artist has been made into a collectible toy, with design elements that honor her Chinese background.
Labubu is the stage name of Joella – make sure to say ‘Ella!’ – a drag queen who appeared on the seventeenth season of RuPaul’s Drag Race, where she placed thirteenth.
The 25-year-old performer stunned everyone with her latest memorable outfit as she arrived on the red carpet.
As a huge fan, I was absolutely thrilled to see her outfit! She’s from California and completely nailed the look – a super cozy, fluffy bodysuit that looked just like the monster, complete with adorable ears poking out from under a straw hat. It was perfect!
Joella’s Labubu wore a regal, red qipao dress with flowers on it, and the dress was decorated with gold.

Joella, who performs as Joey, accessorized with a unique purse resembling a takeout container on a gold chain. She also wore traditional Chinese shoes made of red suede with gold metallic toes.
Only her face was visible inside the Labubu costume, and she used makeup to create the large eyes and signature sharp smile of the popular toy.
Joella’s Drag Race colleague, Jewels Sparkles, posted a video of their outfits on Instagram, and Joella playfully introduced herself as ‘the slaysian Labubu’.
RuPaul’s Drag Race has received two nominations for this year’s Emmy Awards, and RuPaul himself is also up for an award.
The newest season, season 17, of RuPaul’s Drag Race has been nominated for Outstanding Reality Competition Series.
The show is up against fellow nominees: The Traitors, Top Chef, Survivor and The Amazing Race.
RuPaul Charles, who goes by just RuPaul professionally, has received more Emmy nominations as a reality show host than anyone else, with a total of 10 nominations.
Before this year, RuPaul had already won the Outstanding Host for a Reality Series or Competition Program award eight times, and has a total of 14 Primetime Emmy Awards from 22 nominations.
RuPaul launched the show in 2009, and it-along with the performers who’ve competed-has received 79 award nominations, winning 29 of them.

Tonight, the 77th Emmy Awards will celebrate the best in television. The ceremony, featuring many famous stars, is taking place at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles.
The 74th Emmy Awards will air live on CBS on Sunday, September 14th, starting at 8 p.m. Eastern and 5 p.m. Pacific time. Viewers with a Paramount+ premium subscription can watch live or later, while those with the basic plan can stream it the next day. Comedian Nate Bargatze, known for his stand-up and appearances on Saturday Night Live, will host this year’s ceremony.
Apple TV+’s popular show, Severance, is the frontrunner for awards this year, receiving a total of 27 nominations. These include nominations for Best Drama Series and many of the top acting awards in the drama category.
Adam Scott and Britt Lower play coworkers at a mysterious company where a unique brain procedure splits employees into two distinct personalities: one for work and one for their personal lives. The work personality has no memory of anything that happens outside the office.
The show is up for Best Drama Series, facing competition from Andor, The Diplomat, The Last of Us, Paradise, The Pitt, Slow Horses, and The White Lotus.
