Nicole Kidman shares an enticing sneak peek about the highly anticipated sequel, “Practical Magic 2,” set to hit theaters in the coming year.
The movie, where Nicole Kidman and Sandra Bullock return to portray their characters Gillian and Sally Owens (from the 1998 film Practical Magic), completed filming this week.
On Instagram, the actress posted a quick backstage clip showing the main characters strolling hand-in-hand across a meadow, with occasional hugs, as they moved farther away from the camera.

In June 2024, it was announced that the sequel will be directed by Susanne Bier, with a fresh ensemble including Lee Pace from Foundation, Maisie Williams from Game of Thrones, Xolo Maridueña known for Blue Beetle, and Solly McLeod.
In addition to Kidman and Bullock, some familiar faces from the initial film also make a comeback. Dianne Wiest takes on the role of Aunt Jet, while Stockard Channing portrays Aunt Franny.
It was announced on Instagram last July by Evan Rachel Wood herself that she won’t reprise her role as Sally’s oldest child Kylie in the show.
She expressed her willingness to contribute, whether it was just a single scene or line. However, they’re planning to recast. I regret having to let the fans down. The decision wasn’t within my power or preference. If given the chance, I would have gladly returned to work with my co-stars again.
In the upcoming sequel, Joey King has been chosen for a role, and there are speculations that she might portray one of Sally’s adult daughters. However, it remains undecided whether she will step into the shoes of Kylie (originally played by Wood) or Antonia instead.
In the initial novel titled “Practical Magic,” we follow the journey of the Owens sisters as they grapple with a heartbreaking fate: any male who develops feelings for them is destined to face a dreadful curse.
In a shocking turn of events when Jimmy Angelov, Gillian’s cruel partner, passes away suddenly, the sisters choose sorcery to revive him instead of facing legal consequences. However, they inadvertently infuse his lifeless body with an evil entity which poses a grave danger and could potentially wipe out their entire lineage.

Practical Magic 2 is releasing in cinemas on 18 September 2026.
