Olly Murs has revealed the touching significance behind his baby son’s name, as it holds a familial connection to the popular BBC program “Who Are You Really?
Last week, the ex-contestant from X Factor gave birth to baby Albert, now he’s embracing his role as a dad of two.
He already shares daughter Madison with his wife Amelia, and now little Albert.
On Friday, Olly revealed the heartfelt story behind his meaningful name, leaving his audience amazed.
Sharing a picture of him cradling baby Albert not long after birth, Olly clarified that the boy’s name was derived from his great-grandfather Edward ‘Albert’ Murs.
In my latest exploration of life stories, I’ve found a fascinating tidbit that I can’t help but share. Recently, as I delved into the genealogy of a renowned singer on an episode of ‘Who Do You Think You Are?’, I stumbled upon a rich family history. As it turned out, the singer reconnected with his great-grandfather, and in a moment of deep connection, he discovered an ancestral name that resonated deeply with him. To me, this serves as a reminder that our roots can often provide us with the most unexpected yet fitting identities.

He titled the post: “Some folks have wondered why we picked the name Albert… It’s named after my great-grandfather, Edward ‘Albert’ Murs.” (Paraphrased)
As a lifestyle enthusiast, I must share a special moment with you all. Ever since my appearance on BBC’s Who Do You Think You Are?, Amelia and I fell in love with a unique name. Now, our little one carries that precious piece of family history into the future. Son, I am so proud to see it continue through you [heart emoji]!
Last year, Olly made an appearance on a BBC show, during which they disclosed that his familial roots originate from Latvia.
He sought to discover the circumstances surrounding his grandfather Eddie’s departure to England, and unravel the methods he used to make that escape.
As a die-hard admirer, I found myself uncovering a fascinating family history – my ancestors were captivating circus performers! But the twist came when I delved deeper, unearthing a heartrending tale from wartime. A fateful decision was made that ultimately led to an unbearable rift within our family.
In his quest to encounter his great-grandmother Veronika Jankovska at the Salamonska Circus structure in Riga, he uncovered that his grandfather had been unfaithful to her instead.
During the program, he emotionally expressed, “Seeing dad shed tears and become upset was something unprecedented for me. In truth, I had never witnessed my father crying before.
Observing him emotional made me feel as though I had accomplished something truly meaningful for him and his family, providing them with a sense of tranquility. It was a moment that brought a strong connection to Latvia within me.

This weekend, he assured his wife Amelia that he would head directly back home immediately following his performance at BBC Radio 2 In The Park on Sunday.
He took to the stage days after the birth of their second child.
At the start of his performance at Hylands Park, Olly expressed a brief sentiment to his wife Amelia, “I’m surrounded by so many wonderful individuals here. I miss you already, and as soon as I wrap up, I’ll race right home to you!
In simpler terms, Olly has mentioned that he intends to be more involved during the early weeks of his second child’s life, contrasting with his immediate departure for a Take That tour following the birth of his first child, Amelia’s daughter, Madison.
