Katie Price sparks concern over her sphynx kittens as they spend the night at the vets after falling dangerously ill

Four of Katie Price’s Sphynx cats have raised concerns due to their sudden illness, causing them to stay overnight at the veterinary clinic for treatment and care.

Previously famed model, now traveling with companion Kerry Katona, has faced criticism from animal welfare organizations due to her possessing pets following a string of losses in her care.

Last month was a sorrowful time as she tragically lost one kitten from the litter that her pedigreed feline Doris had given birth to. One of them had difficulty attaching to nurse.

This marked the eighth animal to die in her care.

As a dedicated cat lover and ardent admirer of Katie, I find myself deeply concerned about her four resilient feline offspring. Despite my repeated pleas for their well-being, leading to numerous trips to the vet, their health has unfortunately taken a steep turn for the worse.

For the star, aged 46, and her partner, JJ Slater, it became necessary to feed their (babies/infants) every three hours following an infection that affected Doris. As a result, she began taking antibiotics.

Taking to her Snapchat on Tuesday, Katie revealed that JJ found the kittens limp and unwell.

She mentioned that they had all worsened significantly, despite an earlier visit to the vet. In the end, JJ urgently took them to the emergency veterinary clinic.

‘We’re on our way back to the vets, it’s not looking good.

‘Fingers crossed, they are like our babies. We’re doing everything we can.

‘We’re just gutted at the minute. And we’ll be gutted if they can’t do anything for them.’

In the most recent news, Katie mentioned that the kittens stayed at the vet for a night, however, Doris seems to be recovering well.

She told her followers: ‘Good morning, didn’t have a very good sleep last night at all.

The veterinarians called us thrice during the night. I’ll provide another update about the kittens, but I’m not quite myself at the moment.

‘But Doris is alright.’

Upon resuming social media activity on Friday, dear Kerry announced that Doris had returned home, however, no trace of the kittens was found.

Daily Mail has contacted Katie’s representative for an update.

Last October, Katie graciously invited Doris and two other hairless felines to reside with her, amidst the requests from animal welfare organizations suggesting she should not possess any more pets.

Instead of keeping animals, she was met with criticism. The charity PETA then proposed a £5,000 incentive for her to cease being a pet owner. In response, she defended herself against those criticisms.

Katie, who’s just welcomed a new cocker spaniel called Rookie into her household, has a lifelong passion for animals and has previously cared for various pets throughout her life.

Yet, questions have been raised concerning her animal care methods following incidents where five dogs, a horse, and a chameleon passed away under her supervision – with several meeting their ends in road accidents close to her residence in Sussex.

Katie blames these unfortunate events on bad fortune, as many happened when she wasn’t around. Since then, she’s taken measures to fortify the garden at her new residence to safeguard her beloved pets.

It was situations beyond my control that led me to pet ownership.

As a devoted animal enthusiast, let me assure you, my affection for these creatures is boundless. I cherish every moment spent caring for them and nurturing their growth.

In response to news that Katie had decided to rehome her dog Tank, possibly due to a loss of interest, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) wrote an open letter to her in February 2024.

They offered her £5,000 if she signs a contract to not acquire another animal.

As a devoted admirer with a heart for all creatures great and small, I can’t help but express my concerns about the increasing number of animals who either perished under your care or were relinquished to new homes – a situation that’s hard to overlook. It’s no wonder that people are voicing their worries on this matter.

Regardless of your explanations for their hardship, surrender, or end, it’s undeniable that you’re inadvertently causing harm to these delicate, conscious beings. I trust we can both acknowledge that such an approach isn’t ideal.

PETA added: ‘things have gone horribly wrong with many of the animals under her supervision’.

Regarding the open letter, a rep from Katie stated to TopMob that “Katie has frequently invited PETA for a direct discussion, yet they persist in portraying their version of events through the media.

‘If they want to have a direct conversation with Kate they can get in touch.’

Couldn’t one argue that it seems more appropriate for the charity funds to be used for animal causes rather than distributed among celebrities? Or perhaps, isn’t it questionable whether these charities actually need to spend money on celebrities when there are other worthy causes like animal welfare needing attention?

Previously, the foremost animal welfare organization, PETA, criticized Katie severely following the demise of her seventh pet under her care. They claimed that she bore a responsibility for their deaths, implying a staining of her hands with figurative blood.

As a devoted advocate for responsible pet ownership, I find myself advocating for Katie’s consideration of limiting the number of pets she takes into her care, following the unfortunate passing of her protection dog, Blade, last June. It is crucial that we prioritize the well-being and safety of all our beloved animals.

It came seven months after another one of Katie’s dogs, Sharon, was killed on the same road.

A petition for Katie to be banned from owning animals garnered 30,000 signatures.

At that point in time, she didn’t manage to avoid criticism from animal rights organization PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals).

I advocated for a legal restriction to be imposed, barring Katie from having any pets whatsoever.

They had offered Katie £5,000 to stop buying pets, which she had not responded to.

Ingrid Newkirk, founder of PETA UK, expressed to The Sun that if there was a legal means to halt this persistent animal abuser, PETA would take immediate action. This woman disregards the lives she’s destroying and fails to heed crucial advice, continuing to treat living animals as discardable playthings.

As a devoted supporter, I find it disheartening to imagine if William Hill were to place bets without any regard for taste or decency. In such a scenario, wagers might focus on predicting how short the life of this adorable kitten could be under Price’s care, given his troubling history of animal fatalities. One would struggle to use the term ‘care’ in such circumstances.

The latest members of the family joined us not long ago, following her announcement that she had to say goodbye to her beloved ‘designer’ cat, Frog, due to a neurological illness he had been diagnosed with.

In February, she purchased a frog for 1,200 pounds, affectionately naming it as a heartwarming homage to her frog-loving son, Harvey. However, controversy ensued several months later when she posted a video of the pet engaging in playful interactions with a dog.

Over a span of six years, Katie lost eight beloved pets, with four dogs and a horse sadly being struck by vehicles.

In addition, she has donated her pets, such as an unruly German Shepherd named Bear who has shown aggression towards other animals.

In early 2024, Katie decided to part ways with her dog, Tank, as he no longer seemed appealing on social media platforms like Instagram. (Or: At the start of 2024, Katie rehomed Tank because he was no longer considered cute on Instagram.)

She also currently has a pet pug, named Captain, and avidly looks after horses.
