The latest expansion pack for the new Pokémon Legends title was unveiled, accompanied by a fresh Pokémon game called Pokémon Pokopia, which shares similarities with the Minecraft universe.
Today’s Nintendo Direct broadcast (September 12, 2025) brought exciting updates for Pokémon enthusiasts. Highlights included a fresh glimpse at Pokémon Legends: Z-A, an expansion pack set to be offered at a cost for the game, as well as a completely new addition to the Pokémon series of games.
Here is everything we know.
Pokémon Legends: Z-A to get a paid DLC at launch
For Pokémon Legends: Z-A enthusiasts, there’s exciting news! The game is set to launch with an additional paid content, a DLC named “Mega Dimension.” This expansion will introduce two new Mega Evolutions, specifically Mega Raichu X and Mega Raichu Y, which will be the main focus of this DLC.

Although the exact cost for the Mega Dimension DLC hasn’t been revealed yet, it is set to launch simultaneously with the game on October 16, 2025, promising to be a significant expansion for the upcoming title.
Yet, this raises debate among some, as Nintendo appears to conceal a significant amount of content within pay-to-play barriers. Nonetheless, numerous Pokémon enthusiasts are likely to acquire the DLC and any forthcoming game add-ons.
New game, Pokémon Pokopia, announced for Nintendo Switch 2
Although the Nintendo Switch 2 is relatively new and hasn’t had many games launched yet, it was recently announced that Pokémon Legends: Z-A will be the first Pokémon game on this console. Additionally, there are rumors about another Pokémon title scheduled for release on the Nintendo Switch 2 as well.

In this fresh take on the Pokémon series, the game Pokémon Pokopia presents a charming style where players assume the role of Ditto transformed into a human character. Your mission involves establishing a new residence on an unoccupied territory. This game offers a blend reminiscent of Animal Crossing and Minecraft, but with the unique twist of incorporating various Pokémon themes.
The video game Pokémon Pokopia, as of now, doesn’t have an officially announced launch date, but it’s expected to come out in the year 2026. Although this news sparks excitement among many, a considerable number of fans were anticipating a remake of an older Pokémon game instead.
