During our work on Season 2, discussions about remaining adjustments began, as we understood that we wouldn’t have the chance to complete it fully. Consequently, we decided to end on an unresolved note.

He went on to clarify that his current role involves maintaining a broad perspective, saying, “Right now, my task is to keep things high-level. Although I yearn for immersing myself in the nitty-gritty details such as working on visual effects, providing script feedback, and delving deep into the specifics, I’m making an effort to simply guide it.

Druckmann shared his expectation that the forthcoming season will stay true to its original content, similar to Season 1, and emphasized that his primary goal for Season 3 is to make sure it maintains this faithfulness.

He went on to say, “I believe this approach serves as our benchmark since it’s the best fit for adapting this type of story. Simultaneously, I appreciate the organic advancements that occur among the team during their work on Season 3.

Craig Mazin, collaborator with Druckmann in creating The Last of Us, continues his involvement in the series as its showrunner. It’s expected that Season 3 will premiere on HBO around 2027.
