Netflix has unveiled a fresh dramatic series, adapted from the widely popular book “Grown Ups” penned by Marian Keyes. The talented Adrian Dunbar, famously known for his roles in “Line of Duty” and “Ridley,” is part of the ensemble cast.
The tale unfolds in South County Dublin, focusing on the turbulent lives of the Casey family, an energetic and closely bonded Irish household intertwined by a complex network of loyalty, animosity, financial ties, reminiscences, and affection.
Netflix’s official description further explains: “The death of the family pillar, the ‘ideal son’, comes as an unexpected shock. Over the following twelve months, the Casey family experiences a series of intense emotional upheavals. They will find themselves entangled in various romantic relationships, revisit old hurts, and create fresh ones.

The Caseys will find themselves compelled to confront not just their sorrow, but the tiresome, unyielding, and at times absurd challenges that come with adulthood. Regardless of their youth and obligations, they remain very much immature adults.

As a dedicated gamer immersed in the world of literature, I can’t help but share my excitement about a drama adaptation that’s based on a remarkable novel published in 2020. The Daily Mail hailed it as a captivating rollercoaster ride of emotions, switching between being touchingly heartwarming and painfully heartbreaking – a true testament to its unparalleled storytelling!
The Observer’s review praised it as both “outstanding” and “heartfelt, insightful, and hugely amusing,” with the Guardian further noting it to be “humorous, believable, and authentic.
The renowned author, Jojo Moyes, who is known for her hit book “Me Before You“, expressed that most of us are intricate and disorganized individuals, often serving as a reminder that very few manage to completely untangle the chaos of their lives.
According to Amazon, Graham Norton expressed that the book offers a captivating portrayal of chaotic lives, skillfully unraveling them. The book is humorous, heartwarming, and difficult to put down.
The new dramatic series, penned by Samantha Strauss, best known for her work on ‘Apple Cider Vinegar,’ is now under production in Dublin, with additional cast members also announced.

Sarah Greene from “Bad Sisters” and “Normal People”, Aisling Bea known for “This Way Up” and “Doctor Who”, Amy-Leigh Hickman star of “You” and “Our Girl”, Barry Ward famous for “The End of the Fing World”, Sinéad Cusack from “Marcella”, Karin Hanczewski who has been in “Call My Agent: Berlin”, Robert Sheehan best known for “Misfits”, Katelyn Rose Downey from “Clean Sweep” and newcomer James Agnew are all joining forces.
Strauss expressed: “I am certainly not the only one captivated by every word penned by Marian Keyes, and it’s a genuine life milestone to be entrusted with her characters, as we transport the Casey family and the realm of Grown Ups onto Netflix.
James Griffiths, our talented director, is currently creating something truly captivating and authentically human. It feels surreal to work alongside such an extraordinary group of actors and dedicated crew members here in Ireland’s lovely sunshine.
