Summary
- ‘Sake and a Dream‘ opens Sept 12 at Zepster Gallery, Brooklyn
- 11 artists reimagine Bobu the Bean Farmer with limited prints available
In the autumn, the Zepster Gallery in Brooklyn will unveil “Sake and a Dream: Artists’ Interpretations of Bobu,” an engaging exhibition that delves into the world of a character adored within the realms of anime and digital art. The show commences on September 12 and features 11 artists hailing from various parts of the globe, each offering their unique take on “Bobu the Sake Farmer,” a figure deeply embedded in Japanese cultural symbolism and the decentralized universe of the anime series, Azuki.
Organized by @digitalemissions, who is also the co-founder of @leagueoto, this exhibition represents his inaugural solo curatorial endeavor. Displayed pieces include paintings and sculptures that blend digital aesthetics with traditional artistry, offering unique perspectives on Bobu’s extraordinary journeys and unconventional character. The main aim, as stated by the event organizers, is not commercialization of art but instead creating a mythological backdrop for the character.
Following this philosophy, the artists involved were paid beforehand, alleviating the financial strain of sales and fostering an environment for exploration. Each piece will additionally be accompanied by digital print versions and displayed in a virtual gallery, increasing its accessibility to collectors beyond Brooklyn.
Exhibition sales will be priced at their actual cost, and any extra revenue generated will be put back into upcoming initiatives. The artwork features Physical Backed Token (PBT) tech for secure digital verification, and we’ll also offer the opportunity to mint limited edition prints.
Sake and a Dream runs from September 12, 2025, at Zepster Gallery, Brooklyn, NY.
