Cillian Murphy disclosed the heartfelt motivation behind his reprisal of the Peaky Blinders series, now that the film has officially set a launch date.
In the upcoming Netflix movie, titled “The Immortal Man“, the actor will once again take on the character of Tommy Shelby. This time, the storyline is set during World War II.
Since the conclusion of our beloved show in 2022, I must say, the actor’s career has truly shone brightly. His triumphant win at the Oscars for his outstanding performance in ‘Oppenheimer’ is a testament to this.

Murphy disclosed that it was the script that prompted him to agree to work on Peaky Blinders yet again, and further acknowledged a deep bond with the show’s fans.
He shared with The Observer that we’ve received an excellent script, and I feel a strong sense of responsibility towards the fans since they’ve played a significant role in making our show as successful as it is. Concluding this project feels like closing a full circle covering 36 hours of television.
The article also verified that “The Immortal Man” is set for release next year, a fact that Murphy himself corroborated during his interview at the Toronto International Film Festival.
Earlier this year, Steven Knight, the show’s creator, acknowledged that the dedicated audience played a significant role in his decision to revive the series.
As a passionate gamer speaking to The Playlist, I simply felt compelled to take on this challenge. You see, while the desire for recognition is not my main reason (though I could certainly feign it), the truth is, I have a deep appreciation for the Peaky fans who’ve been instrumental in its success. They found something special in it, just as I did.
He additionally verified that it would have a major theater premiere, mentioning: “Given their enthusiasm for it, I truly hope they can experience this collectively under one roof since our interactions have been virtually confined, yet satisfactory.
Yet, it’s important to me that this unfolds on the big screen, allowing people to share the experience by sitting together and witnessing the event.
Additionally, along with Murphy, the upcoming film features fresh faces such as Rebecca Ferguson, Tim Roth, and Jay Lycurgo. Notably, cast members like Stephen Graham, Sophie Rundle, and Ned Dennehy will also reappear.
You can currently stream the series “Peaky Blinders” on both BBC iPlayer and Netflix. A film based on it is scheduled for release next year.
