Channel Nine’s Clint Stanaway reveals the REAL reason why he is leaving the network after 25 years – and what he plans to do next

According to reports, Clint Stanaway, a well-known presenter on Channel Nine, has disclosed the genuine motive for his unexpected departure from the network following a tenure of 25 years.

This week, the host of Weekend Today, aged 42, revealed that he was stepping down from Nine in a statement. However, he expressed his intentions to remain committed to his position at Nova for the Jase and Lauren morning show.

On Wednesday, during his radio broadcast, Clint shared that he’d reached a point where he felt less enthusiastic about his role, a feeling that had developed over time as his passion for it had waned compared to earlier times.

Clint expressed relief after contemplating for some time. He felt the need to take action since he realized that he was drained – both emotionally and mentally.

25 years ago, in January 2001, I stepped into Channel Nine at the age of 18. That’s almost a quarter of a century. It was a very difficult choice I had to make.

In March 2024, when Clint joined Nova, he discovered a deep-seated love for radio. He’s excited because by the end of the year, he will no longer be working at Nine and can devote his entire career to his passion for radio instead.

He stated that at first, he engaged in it for about six months and found himself becoming hooked quite rapidly. Now, he views it as both his life and his future, which gives him an incredibly fulfilling sensation.

‘I tried to juggle everything for so long. I think I did a really good job of it for so long.

In truth, deep within me, I’ve always felt that there was an end point. Now, I find myself at a place where it’s essential for me to set up circumstances that will help me regain control of my life.

Instead, he mentioned that he’s eager to have some free time ahead, as he won’t need to balance between two jobs anymore, allowing him to concentrate on his personal life instead.

He expressed his desire for regaining his normal life, enjoying everyday experiences, creating memorable moments with loved ones, aspiring to become a father someday, and forming relationships. However, at present, these things are beyond his reach.

As a lifestyle enthusiast, I find myself compelled to share a personal update. Last Tuesday, I made the decision to step down from my role at Nine. In a public statement, I acknowledged the substantial responsibilities I’ve been managing and expressed my intention to alleviate this workload moving forward.

Over the past two years, Clint explained that balancing his work on TV along with being a member of the morning crew at Melbourne Nova has been quite a heavy task for him.

I’ve developed a deep enthusiasm for radio, and from now on, I plan to make it a focus in my life. Simultaneously, I aim to achieve a healthier work/life equilibrium.

In the early 2000s, he kicked off his journey in the media world by working in the news library at Melbourne’s GTV9. Over time, he progressively climbed up the ladder of success.

Later, Clint improved his reporting abilities at WIN Television in Bendigo. Afterwards, he went back to 9News Melbourne and assumed the position of both news and court reporter.

In the following years, the seasoned journalist received a position as Weekend Sports Anchor at 9News Melbourne.

Throughout his tenure as a sports journalist, he reported extensively on significant sporting events such as the Olympic Games and the Melbourne Cup.

Clint expressed gratitude to his nine long-time colleagues for their continuous support throughout the years. He subtly suggested that there could be a possibility he might rejoin the network at some point in the future.

He stated that his job has consistently held great value for him, whether it’s on 9News, hosting Weekend Today, or working with the Wide World of Sports team.

I’ve had the pleasure of meeting numerous wonderful individuals, shared some truly remarkable tales, and lived through moments that will remain etched in my memory. As much as it saddens me, I believe this isn’t a permanent goodbye. The Nine family has been exceptionally kind to me, and I will always be grateful.
