Courteney Cox shares sweet moment with Bruce Springsteen at U.S. Open decades after Dancing In The Dark video

Years following her appearance in Bruce Springsteen’s music video “Dancing in the Dark,” Courteney Cox reconnected with him at the glitzy U.S. Open event filled with celebrities.

On Sunday, I had the pleasure of attending the Flushing Meadows match where I found myself sharing a delightful moment with two familiar faces. Catching up in friendly banter, we created memories that felt like old times. Remarkably, I also crossed paths with Jessica Rae Springsteen, the daughter of a music legend – an unexpected yet memorable encounter!

In a casual and friendly manner, Cox, aged 61, greeted a pair with a warm wave while she conversed with them at their height. The Boss, who was 75 years old, initiated the introductions by pointing towards his 33-year-old daughter.

The former Friend extended his hand in greeting to the young Springsteen, who gratefully returned the gesture.

In the heartwarming moments I recently witnessed, I had the privilege of capturing on camera a special reunion between Bruce Springsteen and a dear friend. Upon seeing each other, there was a tender exchange as he kissed her cheek and embraced her warmly. He then proudly introduced her to his beloved daughter, making the scene even more heartfelt. It was an incredible moment to be part of!

As a devoted admirer, I found myself stepping into the limelight at the tender age of 20, cast as the fortunate fan dancing alongside Bruce Springsteen in his iconic 1987 music video for “Dancing In The Dark.

Springsteen plucked a young woman from the audience and dance-danced with her onstage, immediately catapulting her into fame.

Cox ended up getting the part in the dance, outperforming other skilled dancers during their audition for director Brian DePalma.

During an interview with Howard Stern in 2022, the actress who played “The Scream” role reminisced about a transformative experience, confessing that even now, she feels embarrassed when she revisits her ‘awkward’ dancing.

She raved about Springsteen, exclaiming how divine he is. That particular song of his is among my favorites, but I blush a bit whenever I watch its video, especially when I notice my own dancing in it… Have you seen my moves?”

“She went on and on about Springsteen, declaring him as something supernatural. One of his songs really strikes a chord with me, but watching the music video makes me feel awkward, particularly remembering my dance moves in it… Did you catch my routine?

‘It was pathetic. I’m not a bad dancer, but that was horrible. I was so nervous.’

Upon her initial arrival at the try-out, Cox felt as though she might have ended up in the wrong location, given the high level of skill among the competitors.

Initially, I believed myself to be in an unfamiliar setting. I found myself uttering, “It seems these folks are up to something, for I can’t flex my leg at all. This is as far as I go!” accompanied by a demonstrative kick of my leg.

She shared that she visited Brian DePalma’s office, where the music started playing and he asked her to dance. Initially taken aback as it seemed they were about to dance alone in his office, she felt quite awkward about it.

Fortunately for Cox, it seems DePalme wasn’t looking for a pro dancer for the role.

She replied softly, “That seems to be the reason I received it – it was almost as if I had exclaimed, ‘I understand!'” and suggested, “It appears that’s the response they desired – a passionate fan who couldn’t help but be amazed.

In his autobiography titled “Born To Run,” Springsteen reminisced about believing the girl he was told to bring up on stage was just an audience member at the show.

He found out from the director at a later point that it was indeed Cox who had won the role following her audition in New York for the part.

At Sunday’s event, Cox (accompanied by her Snow Patrol partner, Johnny McDaid) joined other popular figures like Springsteen among the notable attendees.

As an overly enthusiastic admirer, I couldn’t help but be enchanted by the heartwarming sight of Jessica Alba and Danny Ramirez, hand-in-hand, showcasing their affectionate bond at the dazzling US Open tennis final in New York City. Sharing the spotlight were Courteney Cox and her partner Johnny McDaid, along with the radiant Lindsay Lohan. What a spectacle of stardom!

On Freaky Friday, the leading actress shone beautifully in a pristine Chanel gown, accompanied by her husband Bader Shammas, and together they are parents to their two-year-old son named Luai.

Other celebs in attendance included Irina Shayk, 39, Stanley Tucci, 64, and Ben Stiller, 59.
