Roisin Kelly, a well-known personality on the show Gogglebox, has spoken out for the first time since being unexpectedly let go from the BBC television program.
In February 2022, the well-known Scottish actress and her partner Joe became a part of the show. However, towards the end of July, they announced to their followers that they would not participate in Series 26.
As a devoted admirer, I couldn’t help but share some insight from my weekend’s TikTok escapades! Roisin was kind enough to spill the beans about why they had to bid adieu to the show, and boy, did it put those backstage drama rumors to rest!
In a heartfelt outpouring, I find myself addressing you directly, dear camera, as I prep for my routine. Let me clarify that although it might sound dramatic, the truth is, we weren’t given the opportunity to return. It was more like a gentle fade-out rather than a brutal axe.
Apparently, they plan to change the direction of the show, shifting it away from our home setting… and unfortunately, that means there won’t be much background or tales connected with it.
Previously, Roisin expressed her wish to team up with Joe for a new BBC program, mentioning that she aimed to be featured in the show “Race Across the World.
Kicking off the video, I found myself reflecting on the unexpected departure from Gogglebox. It’s almost as if it was written in my stars that I’d find myself without a touch of makeup to adorn my face – such a fitting anecdote for me!
It’s clear that Gogglebox returned last night, and many viewers have been wondering where Joe and Roisin are. To clarify, if you haven’t heard yet, we were unfortunately canceled.
As Roisin mentioned, there have been a few articles suggesting we’ll venture into the jungle for I’m A Celebrity. However, lounging on the couch, in our case watching TV, doesn’t seem quite fitting for being part of I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here! It’s an adventure that requires more than just staying put and flipping channels.
‘But it’s flattering to be part of the rumours, it’s nice to be included.’
She stated, “Often, people assume there are hidden details in our stories, similar to how Jeremy Clarkson was rumored to have physically attacked a producer off-camera. However, in truth, we maintained friendly relationships with all of our producers.
What makes this situation particularly sad is that it feels similar to being eliminated from a reality TV show like ‘Love Island.’ However, what adds to the tragedy is that this show is not one where eliminations typically occur, making it even more poignant.
Initially, I hesitated discussing it too deeply as it might seem ungrateful or negative, given our situation of working and earning money from watching TV. It’s considered quite luxurious.
Indicating a potential guesting on another program, Roisin mentioned with a smile: “Who among us has had the chance to feature on Gogglebox and enjoy television at the same time? Therefore, it’s crucial to appreciate and cherish such an opportunity.
‘This is me being nice in case they want us to be on Race Across The World.’
In July, they announced on TikTok that they were leaving, causing viewers to feel deeply saddened.
In a post on her page, Roisin stated that after spending nearly four years on the couch, Channel 4 has chosen not to renew the contract for Season 26, meaning that neither she nor Joe will be returning.
‘Therefore we are leaving the Gogglebox family.
We are incredibly thankful to Studio Lambert for the chance they gave us. The entire experience was absolutely wild and we’ll certainly miss spending our Fridays tuning in together on television!

She expressed a heartfelt acknowledgement towards our team, both current and former members: Jason, Ayse, Rich, Eilish, Ewan, Evie, Seve, David, Stef, AJ, and Odin.
Apart from Harriet, who is always ready to take calls, regardless of the time of day or night, we’ve developed a friendship that lasts a lifetime. Over the years, as we filmed together every week, she feels more like a cherished member of our family!
