Doctor Who’s Jodie Whittaker and Mandip Gill return for new adventure

In the exciting new chapter of the Whoniverse, Jodie Whittaker and Mandip Gill reprise their roles as they continue their adventures with Doctor Who.

In the continuing sci-fi series, the actors who portrayed The Thirteenth Doctor and Yaz Khan are set to return to their characters in “The Return of the Doctor,” an upcoming audio production by Big Finish Productions.

After successfully protecting the tranquil Zaarians from a menacing extraterrestrial danger, The Doctor and Yaz set sail for their upcoming journey. However, Yaz ponders whether they’re embarking on new adventures or merely fleeing from something.

What to Read Next

After much persuasion, the reluctant Doctor agrees to revisit the planet. Upon arrival, they are taken aback to find the Zaarians in disarray. What actions did the Doctor take that led to this chaos? Why does the city look destroyed? And who is the mysterious voice that Yaz hears in her mind?

Whittaker commented that this episode stands out due to Yaz’s more assertive approach towards the Doctor. Usually, they are very much in agreement, but it’s beneficial for the Doctor to face challenges and be prompted to explain aspects of her character.

During the majority of the television show, Yaz was often learning by listening to the Doctor, but in this new season, their bond has grown such that she is now capable of voicing her disagreements and even questioning some of the Doctor’s choices, as noted by Gill.

Rory Thomas-Howes, the author of this audio drama, would have been astonished if someone had told 12-year-old Rory that he would eventually write his own Doctor Who episode. It’s as if young Rory would have fainted like a Slitheen in vinegar upon hearing this!

Apart from Whittaker and Gill, the cast of The Return of the Doctor also features Belinda Stewart-Wilson, Charlie Kelly, Will Kirk, and Stephan Bessant as guest stars.

Title “The Return of the Doctor” is the second installment in a series of twelve episodes featuring key characters, released every other month. The inaugural segment, called “Vampire Weekend,” debuted recently.

Doctor Who: The Thirteenth Doctor Adventures: The Return of the Doctor is out now.
