Siobhan Finneran’s ITV crime drama A Confession is leaving Netflix this month.
The 2019 six-episode series is inspired by the actual murder case of Sian O’Callaghan in 2011. The Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Martin Freeman portrays Detective Superintendent Stephen Fulcher, a character who violates procedures to ensure justice is served.
Additionally starring alongside Freeman and the actress from Happy Valley, Finneran, the cast of A Confession includes Imelda Staunton, Joe Absolom, Daniel Betts, and Charlie Cooper as well.

The Netflix show is due for removal from streaming on September 30th, so you should plan to catch up on it soon!
However, it’s also available on ITVX, and doesn’t look like it’s leaving any time soon.

On Rotten Tomatoes, the show has 15 critics reviews, with a very strong 93% positive score.
The Guardian described the show as a “harsh yet compelling portrayal of heartbreakingly tragic occurrences,” featuring an exceptional ensemble of actors known for breathing life into ordinary personalities in extraordinary ways.
The show received high praise from Den of Geek for its “careful approach” in avoiding excessive dramatization of the events portrayed. They noted that the storyline about Fulcher and its impact on policing was far from dull, and similarly, the drama itself was engaging, focusing on the profound emotional experiences of victims’ families.

In her review, it was stated that the show should not be overlooked, with the London Evening Standard commending the intense, emotional portrayal of Staunton and the exceptional performance of Finneran.
As a devoted viewer, I’m thrilled to share that Netflix has recently brought in a new ITV drama – the medical series titled “Monroe,” starring James Nesbitt. While it might not be revolutionary in terms of originality, many have found it to be quite enjoyable and worthy of their viewing time.
A Confession can be streamed on ITVX, or on Netflix until 30 September.
