Death in Paradise’s Ralf Little confirmed for “gripping” new British psychological drama

Previously known “Death in Paradise” actor, Ralf Little, has secured a role in a new Channel 4 suspense series, where things are not always what they appear to be.

Following his departure from the shores of Saint Marie, Little has joined the ensemble cast of the psychological drama titled “Hunting Alice Bell.” Notably, this series also features Alexandra Roach, known for her role in Killing Eve, and Simon Pegg, famed for Mission: Impossible. (As reported by Deadline)

The series, penned by David Baddiel along with film journalists Peter Bradshaw, Polly Buckle, and Kate Vergese, narrates the story of Fran Da Silva (Roach), a character falsely implicated online as the accomplice to notorious anesthetist killer Alice Bell.

Under his new British alias, Bell finds himself in the middle of an online storm, where several women, among them Fran, encounter a surge of hostile messages from internet users.

The five women charged with a crime band together to prove their innocence, however, it seems that not all parties involved are being honest.

In the upcoming production, Little and Pegg will portray characters named Graham Hunter and Jason Nash. The ensemble cast also features Amanda Abbington as Julie, Emily Barber as Vanessa, Toni O’Rourke as Ros, Christina Bennington as Charlotte, and Rudi Dharmalingam as Nick.

Initially conceived as a feature, Hunting Alice Bell has been developed as a six-part series.

According to Baddiel, the serialized format enabled the narrative to delve into how modern-day rumor-spreading, particularly the inflammatory kind that can ignite riots and uncontrollable public fury, is amplified through social media platforms.

“Technology has created a whole new spin on the idea of mistaken identity,” the creator continued.

In today’s society, it’s often said that anyone can shape their own identity. However, this also implies that one’s identity can be stripped away by external forces. Just as in the novel “Hunting Alice Bell,” where identities are quite flexible, the five female characters find themselves losing control over their own identities.

The thrilling “Clapperboard-produced” series, managed for global distribution by Sphere Abacus, is set to be broadcast on Channel 4 in the future.

In a statement, Channel 4’s Head of Acquisitions, Polly Scates, expressed her enthusiasm for working alongside Clapperboard and Sphere Abacus as they collectively develop an intriguing murder mystery.

Our creative team’s extraordinary talent combined with an impressive cast gives us great confidence that this project will intrigue our audience and leave them wondering what might happen next.

Hunting Alice Bell will air on Channel 4.
