Ozzy Osbourne is honoured by Aerosmith rockers, Black Sabbath guitarist and Yungblud with a tribute at the MTV VMAs as they perform string of his greatest hits

During the MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday evening, Ozzy Osbourne was recognized and celebrated by various rock musicians such as Steven Tyler, Joe Perry, and Yungblud, along with others.

The music world, particularly the rock community, felt deep sorrow upon learning about the death of Ozzy Osbourne, the lead vocalist of Black Sabbath, who passed away after suffering a heart attack at the age of 76 on July 22 this year.

They gathered at the UBS Arena in New York City for the event, where they honored the deceased celebrity by performing some of his most notable songs.

The ceremony commenced through a video tribute from Ozzy’s son Jack and his kids, expressing their heartfelt sentiments about this esteemed musician.

Jack expressed that it would undoubtedly bring immense joy to him if he could witness these excellent musicians continuing his legacy and inspiring the upcoming generation of rock artists.

The star’s grandkids exclaimed, “Just like Papa said, ‘Time to get wild!’ This is a nod to his hit song, Crazy Train.

First, Yungblud teamed up with extreme guitarist Nuno Bettencourt, Black Sabbath’s keyboardist Adam Wakeman, and their group for a performance of the song. Subsequently, they played Black Sabbath’s arrangement titled “Changes.

The Aerosmith duo of Steven Tyler and Joe Perry joined the action for Mama, I’m Coming Home.

Back in the early 2000s, Ozzy gained nationwide recognition through MTV, a channel known for hosting the Video Music Awards. This fame was further bolstered by their family’s popular reality show, The Osbournes, which aired from 2002 to 2005.

In that very year, the Dark Prince solidified his renown by receiving a star on the famous Hollywood Walk of Fame.

As the tribute ended, the performers yelled ‘Ozzy forever, man!’

Prior to the tribute event, Yungblud announced some heartfelt news on Instagram on a Friday, publishing multiple touching black-and-white images of him with the iconic rock figure.

In 2022, Dominc Harrison, also known as Yungblud, formed a profound connection with Ozzy, which seemed to evolve into a bond reminiscent of a mentor and his protégé, or even a father and son.

Yungblud reportedly gave a moving reading at his funeral.

Additionally, he took part in the iconic metal musician’s goodbye concert held at Birmingham’s Villa Park in June, as his health was deteriorating.

Now, the rock star is preparing to honour his idol on one of music’s biggest stages.

On Instagram, Yungblud announced that he would be paying a tribute to Oz at the VMAs on Sunday evening. He promised to do his best to honor Oz and asked everyone to tune in. His love for Oz is everlasting.

As a devoted admirer, I was deeply affected by the recent news that broke following Yungblud’s heartfelt disclosure about learning of Ozzy’s passing – a friend so dear to me. Last month, he shared intimate details of their bond, and now, it’s left us all with an unfillable void.

The singer mentioned that he had been texting Ozzy moments before Jack Osbourne contacted him to report that “he is no more.

Over the last few weeks, I’ve found myself grappling with an unusual sense of disconnection. I’ve grown close to someone special, and now they’re gone. It’s a peculiar feeling, one that stirs a mix of emotions-from nostalgia to sadness, yet also a quiet acceptance of the transient nature of relationships.

‘I was texting him, then his son Jack text me and said “He’s gone”. I’m like, “What?”‘

In regards to the heartfelt service at the funeral, Yungblud expressed that he felt an overwhelming sense of genuine affection filling the space around him.

He stated, ‘The love I felt among my family at the funeral was incredibly genuine. They truly are a real family, and it’s my aspiration to have children and a family like theirs. There’s no pretense or artifice – it’s all authentic.’

Recently, Yungblud posted a photograph showcasing a memento that was once given by the late rocker, shortly after delivering a tribute at the funeral held in his Buckinghamshire residence.

As a devoted admirer, I couldn’t help but share on Instagram a profoundly intimate photo of the cross necklace that legendary rockstar Ozzy Osbourne bestowed upon me during our collaboration on the music video for “The Funeral” in 2022.

Afterward, Yungblud reciprocated the kindness by bestowing a specially crafted cross pendant on Ozzy as a gift prior to Black Sabbath’s last performance.

In my own words, I’d say: “I bid goodnight to Ozzy, his light continues to glow eternally, and I hold a deep affection for him. It seems that he has gracefully handed over the mantle of darkness to Yungblud.

Previously, Yungblud disclosed that the present from Ozzy Osbourne was his most cherished possession. He emotionally honored the rock legend in a deeply felt tribute, expressing his profound sadness.
