David Bailey, a renowned photographer of the swinging sixties, has welcomed a new addition to his family – this being only three years after a moment when he contemplated transitioning as a woman.
On Sunday, Sacha Bailey, aged 30, shared the news that his partner Lucy Brown, who previously worked as an assistant for political activist Tommy Robinson, welcomed their newborn son named Wolfgang Robert Bailey into the world.
He shared a photo on Instagram of the newly born baby, taken mere hours after delivery, swaddled in a white blanket inside a hospital crib, accompanied by a humorous caption that read: “Who’s this?
Sascha, who is married to David and is known as model Catherine Dyer, shared with the Daily Mail before the birth that her original chosen name was Wolfgang, but her father disapproved. Since she has long desired this name, she plans to pass it on now.
The newborn’s arrival comes three years after Sascha nearly transitioned to become a woman.
Previously, the individual mentioned experiencing intense depression throughout his marriage with a Japanese attorney, Mimi Nishikawa, aged 49. At one point, due to this emotional state, he believed he might be grappling with feelings associated with gender incongruence (often referred to as gender dysphoria).

He continued by expressing that he had started considering transitioning, and was getting ready to initiate hormone treatment therapy (HRT).
He admitted feeling utterly disoriented, to the point where he questioned his will to live. He found solace in the belief that he might be transgender, as if this identity shift would offer an escape from his current life.
After a short meeting with a private physician, Sascha received a prescription for female hormones, however, she eventually chose not to proceed with it.
He paused for a moment and reflected, realizing something wasn’t adding up. What he was experiencing wasn’t just physical discomfort; it was emotional turmoil. Not what he needed was a different body, but rather an explanation for the agony he felt.
Sascha acknowledges that it was Lucy, along with his straight-talking dad David, who prevented him from taking a regrettable path. Essentially, Lucy is the one he credits for saving his life. He feels she provided him a sense of stability once more, making him feel whole again rather than shattered.
The couple’s romance began shortly after the collapse of Sascha’s turbulent marriage to Mimi.
Over the past three years, their contentious divorce proceedings have been ongoing, with recurring disagreements regarding financial matters, assets, and even outstanding utility payments.
In June, he shared that the divorce process, which had proven challenging, was nearing its end. He expressed excitement about this fresh start, stating that he hadn’t felt this happy in quite some time.

Regardless of referring to those challenging years marked by a failed marriage and a subsequent mental health struggle as “the most difficult years of my life,” Sascha remains undaunted in his interest towards marriage.
He confessed that the previous experience left him deeply affected. However, regarding Lucy, he envisions marriage as part of their future. He’s determined to make this commitment right this time.
Recently, Sascha has released a memoir titled “Attempting the Plunge,” detailing the toughest phase of his life. This includes battles with suicidal feelings, an unsuccessful attempt at gender transition, struggles in marriage, and ultimately, his road to healing.
‘The book is a way for me to close that terrible saga of my life,’ he said.
Since then, Sascha has emerged as a notable critic, often speaking out against what they refer to as the hasty methodology in handling gender-related care, especially for the younger population.
He asserted that he’s received communication from numerous individuals who de-transitioned, expressing regrets about their decisions, yet feel disregarded or overlooked by the system.
He stated that a large number of people express regret, yet their voices seem to fall on deaf ears within the system. Regrettably, they’re often perceived as an annoyance rather than given proper attention.
He’s also pondered over what his reaction might be if little Wolfgang ever posed the same questions about gender identity that used to be a significant issue for him in the past.
He firmly expressed his disapproval, stating clearly, “I strongly oppose it.” Regarding tattoos and the topic of changing one’s gender, he emphasized, “It’s a definite no. Children lack the autonomy to make such decisions. Thus, we should be their guardians.
