Emotional Jessie J says ‘we never know when our last day will be’ as she returns to the stage following breast cancer surgery while son Sky, two, watches her sing for the first time

On a Saturday, Jessie J made her comeback to the stage for her initial live show since recovering from a mastectomy after bravely battling breast cancer.

As a seasoned lifestyle enthusiast, I had the pleasure of being there when Jessie J, the vocal powerhouse behind “Price Tag,” graced the stage at BBC Radio 2’s In The Park event in Chelmsford, Essex. The energy was electrifying as her performance kicked off to a thunderous applause from an eager audience, myself included.

On stage, she shared her feelings with a filled audience: ‘Perhaps some of you are aware, perhaps others aren’t, but exactly eleven weeks ago today, I underwent breast cancer surgery.’

The final performance left me quite unprepared for its outcome, and I’m currently in a healing phase. However, facing Babins isn’t on my agenda just yet.

‘I’m really excited about it, but my doctors are telling me to stay calm. It seems like no matter where I go, I still feel like I’m back in Essex.’ This version maintains the humor of the original while making it clearer that the speaker is trying to express her excitement despite being told to stay calm.

I’m truly thankful to be in this moment with everyone here today. It means the world to me to witness so many of you singing together after such a long time.

‘It truly feels like I’m a little kid. Still doing what I love.’

She mentioned: ‘Another remarkable event taking place today is that my son will witness me perform on stage for the first time.’

Two-year-old Sky, sporting earmuffs, was noticeable backstage, waving cheerily at his mother performing on stage.

After that, Jessie switched to her next number, the fresh tune titled “Living My Best Life,” a piece she mentioned holds personal significance for her.

She shared that while some of you might be familiar, others may not be, the theme of this song is personally significant because she was diagnosed with a health condition exactly two weeks prior to its release. When everyone suggested pausing and postponing everything, she emphasized that such actions don’t align with life’s true essence.

The mother went on to say, “Life is all about enduring the storm while keeping your umbrella raised, and continuing to move forward.

As for myself, music acts as a soothing balm. It’s what motivates me each day, infusing me with an eagerness to rise and embrace life with enthusiasm.

Additionally, I feel thankful for the ability to create music that could potentially provide solace or joy for others on challenging days, or simply enhance their good days.

‘So this song is called Living My Best Life, and that is what I’m doing every single damn day.

‘Cause we never know when our last day will be, so soak this up, hug the people you love hard.’
