Omerta 6/12, the Nordic thriller said to contain “genuine suspense“, is now streaming in the UK.
In 2022, I found myself diving into a thrilling Finnish series where I stepped into the shoes of Max Tanner, portrayed by Jasper Pääkkönen. This gripping tale unfolds when I’m summoned to a critical hostage crisis at the Presidential Palace. The mastermind behind this chaos? A ruthless terrorist group who’ve snatched several heads of state.
According to Ilkka Remes’s 2006 novel titled “6/12“, the gripping action-thriller can now be streamed in the UK on Channel 4’s service. All four episodes are available as of today.
What to Read Next
On Finland’s Independence Day, December 6th, my heart sinks as jubilant festivities turn into turmoil when terrorists invade the Presidential Residence and kidnap prominent guests. Suddenly, I, Max Tanner, a veteran in the security service, am propelled into the demanding position of negotiator.
In the heat of the escalating crisis, Tanner faces agonizing dilemmas to reveal the perpetrators and thwart a scheme that imperils not only lives but potentially the entire continent. With each passing moment, the gravity of the situation grows, as it now impacts nations far beyond Finland’s shores. The destiny of Europe is precariously hanging on Tanner’s actions.

In their assessment of the show, Nordic Watchlist labeled “Omerta 6/12” as an “impressive action-thriller that delivers real tension,” and went on to say: “Although it doesn’t fully exploit its potential, it still makes for a captivating and thought-provoking series, appealing to enthusiasts of the genre.
The response from viewers was varied, as evidenced by its moderate 5.3 rating on IMDb based on 129 reviews. One critic even went so far as to call it a weak narrative, while acknowledging that the action was somewhat acceptable.

The series blends elements of spy thrillers and action movies, but it struggles to balance these genres effectively. With only four episodes, it seems either overly prolonged or too brief to develop the plot lines coherently and logically.
As a devoted viewer, I’m thrilled to share that my favorite series has found a new home on Channel 4, under the Walter Presents label. This means I can now enjoy it alongside other intriguing shows like the gripping German crime thriller “Hellground” and the captivating Finnish mystery drama “Sunset Grove”. What a fantastic addition to my viewing schedule!
Omerta 6/12 is streaming now on Channel 4.
