Franklin and Bash Season 5 Is Not an Impossibility, as Mark Paul Gosselaar Says He’ll Revive the Series If He and Breckin Meyer Are Able to Get the Rights Back

According to Mark Paul Gosselaar and Breckin Meyer, the stars of the popular series Franklin & Bash, there’s a possibility for a Season 5 if they manage to regain the rights to the show. From 2011 to 2014, Franklin & Bash aired on TNT, focusing on the adventures of street-smart lawyers Jared Franklin and Peter Bash.

Even though the series ended over a decade back, it has experienced a revival on Netflix, with all four seasons of the popular crime drama now accessible in the U.S. Since its final episode, fans have persistently requested its continuation, hoping for a possible Season 5 to resurface someday.

It’s possible that there could be a Season 5 of Franklin & Bash, but only if stars Mark Paul Gosselaar and Breckin Meyer regain the rights to the show.

In 2016, Gosselaar expressed his desire for more episodes of Franklin & Bash, stating during an interview with Cinema Blend: “Perhaps it’s time for a reboot of Franklin & Bash.

I’m really keen on creating a Netflix series based on Franklin & Bash. Luckily, Breckin would also be interested in that. As a matter of fact, I’m currently collaborating with the showrunner and creator of Franklin & Bash for my Fox project, Kevin Falls, who has worked on shows like The West Wing and Journeyman. During our conversation, I proposed to him the idea of reviving Franklin & Bash, and he seems to be on board.

In the year 2022, he continued with this, mentioning that he and his onscreen partner Meyer had been discussing potential projects and were “exploring possibilities to collaborate on a project together” (via Telltale TV).

Breckin Meyer and I have managed to stay friends, collaborating on several projects as recently as last year. Last year, we created a show that ABC picked up; it was based on an event from our lives. Approximately three months ago, we presented another show idea, so we’re continuously seeking opportunities to work together on new projects.

He mentioned that they have been striving to obtain the rights for the series called “Franklin & Bash.” He acknowledged that this is the main hurdle preventing them from launching a revival.

The leading actor from the show “Franklin & Bash” believes there’s a tale yet to be shared, particularly following the suspenseful conclusion of Season 4.

We’ve been striving to secure the rights for ‘Franklin & Bash.’ It’s quite disheartening because we believe there is a keen audience for this show; we believe there are tales yet to be told. Leaving the series on a cliffhanger was never our plan, we thought we would return next season. We’ll keep trying to regain the rights and, if successful, we’d love to bring it back in some form or another.

Currently, the legal drama show “Franklin & Bash” belongs to Sony Pictures Entertainment, which was its initial production company. At this moment, all four seasons can be found streaming on Netflix; however, no official announcements regarding a fifth season have been disclosed.

The storyline focuses on Mark Paul Gosselaar and Breckin Meyer, two lawyers, as they transition from handling high-stakes legal cases to a burgeoning competitor law firm. Their unique tactics in the courtroom turn out to be exactly what this new firm has been lacking.

Will Franklin & Bash Ever Happen?

Despite Franklin & Bash being off-air for more than a decade, there’s still a glimmer of hope for a Season 5. Although it might seem unlikely, revival is not impossible. The show has experienced a sort of resurgence since its arrival on Netflix in the U.S.

Initially, after being released on the platform, the popular TNT show quickly climbed to the top 10 in Netflix US, occupying the ninth spot on the 3rd of September and the tenth position on the 4th.

If the show continues to capitalize on its current popularity and gains significant success on streaming platforms, there’s a strong possibility it might return in some shape or form in the future. For instance, we witnessed the reemergence of an almost forgotten courtroom drama, Suits, on Netflix, which gained massive popularity, led to a full-blown revival, and brought it back onto our screens.

Although Franklin & Bash is still new, if it keeps gaining popularity, there’s a chance that Sony might consider a fifth season for the series. It could potentially happen on Netflix given their current collaboration.

For now, the responsibility lies with individuals such as Mark-Paul Gosselaar and Breckin Meyer, who are eagerly striving to revive the show that currently seems dormant.
