Julia Garner confirms Madonna biopic is still happening but it’s a ‘work in progress’ after a series of delays

Julia Garner has affirmed that she will take on the role of Madonna in an upcoming biopic, although there have been several setbacks that have raised doubts about the movie’s production.

As a lifestyle enthusiast, I’m thrilled to share that I’ve been chosen to embody the iconic role of the Queen of Pop! This exciting journey is still unfolding, with plenty of hard work and creative exploration ahead. Stay tuned for more updates as we bring this project to life!

Julia excitedly shared with W Magazine, “Absolutely! While I can’t reveal too many details, rest assured that it’s something we’re currently developing.

In my role as a lifestyle expert, I must share my affection for Madonna’s music, particularly from her repertoire. Amongst them, ‘Borderline’ stands out as my personal favorite. I also hold ‘Papa Don’t Preach,’ ‘Burning Up,’ and ‘Confessions on a Dance Floor’ close to heart. Growing up, this album was a constant companion. Notably, ‘Vogue’ and ‘Ray of Light’ are tracks that resonate deeply with me as well.

As a devoted admirer, let me express my sentiments: Madonna’s music resonates deeply with me overall. However, if I had to pick my top two favorites, they would be ‘Borderline’ and ‘Papa Don’t Preach’. The reason being, her voice in ‘Papa Don’t Preach’ captivates me immensely. It’s filled with raw emotions that speak volumes to me, making it a song I hold dear.

Last year, Julia joined a movie project that started being worked on in 2020. Notably, Madonna, who is currently 66 years old, will be responsible for both directing and scriptwriting for this upcoming film.

However, it seems the movie was set aside for a while, as no new developments were publicly shared.

Last month, Julia appeared as a guest on the SmartLess podcast, hosted by Jason Bateman and Sean Hayes, where she announced that the movie project is currently being developed and reminisced about her past audition experience involving a dance performance for Madonna.

She said: ‘I kind of just wanted to see if I could do it.

I didn’t have professional dancing background, so I had to teach myself to dance, perform for Madonna, and demonstrate my abilities convincingly. Additionally, I had to sing along with her!

I momentarily pondered about how Madonna might handle the situation, which was showing confidence that I belong here. So I did just that and asserted my presence. In essence, I told them, “Either accept it or walk away. But if you choose to leave, remember that the decision is yours.

On the film’s delays, she added: ‘Anything that’s great, takes a long time.’

Madonna has been persistent in her years-long effort to have a movie about her life made.

2023 saw her taking up the project for a biographical movie titled “Who’s That Girl,” which is reminiscent of both her 1987 film and the hit song bearing the same moniker.

Initially, the movie’s script was crafted alongside Diablo Cody, with the working title being “Little Sparrow.

However, Madonna pivoted her focus to zero in on her international Celebration tour.

Gosh, let me tell you, I was absolutely thrilled when I learned that Madonna herself had penned much of a movie script, with the brilliant Jennifer Garner in mind to bring the character to life! Can’t wait to see it unfold on the big screen!

In November, Madonna publicly expressed her annoyance on social media due to obstacles she encountered while trying to turn her movie idea into reality.

After spending several days in LA listening to feedback from producers and agents about why my film wouldn’t work, I came to the realization that every aspect of my life will face challenges.

The highly acclaimed artist mentioned that she’s been dedicating four years to perfecting her work. Many suggested she might want to consider simplifying or reducing the scale of her projects.

The lengthy caption reads: ‘Life isn’t easy for me, but perhaps I should be thankful. It pushes me to come up with creative solutions. I didn’t lead a typical life, and I can’t follow the usual path.’

After spending some quality time with my dear, inspiring friends, I found myself refreshed and motivated to continue on my journey!

Together, we recognized that being more courageous is crucial – after all, art is about survival! It’s important not to retreat or become insignificant. If you truly desire something in life, the universe seems to work mysteriously to support and help you achieve it.

Afterwards, she posed a question to her almost 20 million audience: “Shall I adapt my life’s tale into a mini-series or a standalone movie?
