For the first time, Channing Tatum publicly discussed the difficult conclusion of his marriage with Jenna Dewan, following the resolution of their contentious six-year legal case last year.
45-year-old Channing Tatum, known for his role in Magic Mike, married his 44-year-old ex-spouse in 2009 following a set encounter on Step Up. They announced their separation in 2018.
The lengthy court battle concerning their assets, finances, and the custody of their 12-year-old daughter Everly prolonged their divorce.
During a discussion about the impact of their breakup, the main character from Blink Twice openly shared that going through the separation ranked as one of the most challenging experiences he’s ever faced in life.
In his upcoming movie, Roofman, spoke about how he found it uncomplicated to access the raw emotions when portraying Jeffrey Manchester, a former spree-robber who has a strained relationship with his daughter.
He stated, “I can certainly grasp its meaning. Jenna and I have mended our relationship, but the breakup was difficult, more so considering our youth at the time.” Later, he added, “We held on for as long as we could, for about a year and a half, but deep down, we knew it wasn’t going to work out…” He then paused, before continuing, “I don’t wish to delve too deeply. At the time, he confessed he doesn’t know if he’ll ever ‘get married again.’

In the year 2018, they both declared their separation through a shared post on social media. They clarified that their decision wasn’t based on any hidden issues or scandalous events.

Although they legally ended their relationship in November 2019, the divorce process has been delayed due to Jenkins’ profitable business deals stemming from the successful 2012 movie “Magic Mike.
In simpler terms, an actress from Hartford, Connecticut, who was married for ten years, is known to have funded the entire Magic Mike film series, consisting of two sequels, a television show on HBO titled “Finding Magic Mike,” and a live stage show in Las Vegas.
Tatum and the movie’s director, Steven Soderbergh, jointly funded the production of the film. The film is heavily influenced by Tatum’s personal experiences as a stripper in Florida from an earlier time.
Their $7 million investment turned into a blockbuster, earning $167 million worldwide.
Attorney Samantha Spector, acting for Dewan, stated in court filings that Tatum’s legal team has unfairly withheld a fair and equitable portion of the shared assets for the community, thereby causing further harm to Jenna each day this case persists.
Spector estimated the Magic Mike business is ‘a potential billion dollar asset.’
Jacqueline Combs, representing Tatum, emphasized that the majority of the Magic Mike franchise’s earnings came post the separation of Tatum and Dewan.
In legal documents, the actor stated that he had consistently consented to his former partner receiving a portion of the earnings from the movie “Magic Mike.
The 44-year-old celebrity stated, ‘I’ve always acknowledged her fair portion of our shared community resources and earnings.’ He further emphasized that her assertions suggesting his involvement in any secret deals with outside parties are entirely unfounded.
She’s been able to view all our financial documents relating to our marital life and post-separation events. I still keep her informed about the financial aspects of Magic Mike.
Meanwhile, the former couple both agreed to 50/50 custody of Everly back in February 2020.
Since the divorce, Dewan has moved on with actor Steve Kazee.
The lovebirds announced their engagement in February 2020 and have since welcomed two children.
In October 2024, Tatum and his former fiancé, Zoë Kravitz, ended their engagement. Their relationship began shortly after his separation from singer Jessie J, and they had been together for three years prior to the breakup.
