Call the Midwife gets exciting update on new series of hit BBC period drama

The actress Georgie Glen, known for her role in “Call the Midwife,” shares an engaging preview about the forthcoming season of the popular BBC show.

In 2018, Glen has been portraying the beloved character Miss Higgins on ‘Call the Midwife’, and recently shared that they will complete filming for the show’s 15th season in a few months. According to her interview with Radio Times magazine, they will continue shooting the new series of ‘Call the Midwife’ until November.

The approaching season is set to start in January, centering around the theme of the Women’s Rights Movement.

During the same interview, Glen commended the show’s creator, Heidi Thomas, by stating that it was her writing that had made the characters so beloved among fans. Furthermore, he discussed his on-screen camaraderie with fellow cast member Linda Bassett.

Not often do you see women of a certain age represented on television, with us usually being the exception. However, sharing scenes with Linda Bassett, who portrays Nurse Crane, is something I genuinely appreciate. Despite our characters hailing from distinct backgrounds, I believe our on-screen camaraderie resonates with the audience.

Prior to the debut of the new season on BBC, audiences can enjoy the “unusual” Christmas episodes of “Call the Midwife”. These special episodes are planned to take place in both Poplar and Hong Kong.

In May, it was announced that the world of Nonnatus House will grow, as they’re developing both a movie and a prequel series at present.

1. Option A: In 1972, the movie unfolds with the principal characters from the series embarking on their overseas journey. A prequel television series, slated for release in 2026, is set against the backdrop of Poplar during World War II.

2. Option B: The storyline of the upcoming film occurs in 1972, featuring our primary characters embarking on an international escapade. Meanwhile, a pre-series to be launched in 2026 will portray events happening in Poplar during World War Two.

3. Option C: The film is set in the year 1972, where our series’ key characters venture abroad for their adventure. In contrast, a spin-off series to be premiered in 2026 is based on Poplar during World War II.

Choose the option that you feel is most natural and easy to read: Option A.
