“Bonkers” 28 Years Later sequel confirms trailer release with first-look images

28 Years Later: The Bone Temple recently announced that they will be releasing their trailer, accompanied by initial sneak peeks.

The upcoming movie, serving as the follow-up to “28 Years Later” and the second part of its sequel trilogy, will further the narrative of Spike, portrayed by Alfie Williams, and Jamie, played by Aaron Taylor-Johnson, as they navigate life in the North East of England after a virus epidemic.

Slated for release on the cinema screens in January, the eagerly awaited movie showcases an impressive ensemble of actors like Jack O’Connell and Ralph Fiennes, with both of them dominating the initial glimpse of the production shared by Rolling Stone magazine.

In this new installment, Fiennes reprises his role as Dr. Ian Kelson, maintaining the distinctive orange-hued skin from the last film. The formidable adversary Samson, portrayed by Chi Lewis-Parry, also makes an appearance. The Alpha zombie looms as a threat, promising chaos.

Lastly, it looks like I’m catching another peek at Sir Jimmy Crystal, played by O’Connell, after his quick cameo in the last movie. The snapshot suggests he might have discovered a route to the mystical Kelson’s Bone Temple. Can’t wait to see what happens next!

According to Rolling Stone, the first trailer for the movie is scheduled to drop on the 3rd of September, promising the expected hair-raising post-apocalyptic atmosphere that we’ve come to associate with this legendary series.

Alex Garland, who wrote the original script, is back for the project. However, there’s a shift in the director’s position, with Nia DaCosta taking over from Danny Boyle. But don’t worry, Danny Boyle is still part of the movie as a producer.

they’re all uniquely personal and somewhat eccentric artistic pieces. He found it challenging to pin down the film’s tone, so instead of trying, he mentioned that it maintains an unusual, unpredictable spirit throughout.

O’Connell described this movie as being a peculiar and unhinged relative to the “28 Years Later” film. He explained how nature ultimately proves to be an overpowering force, suggesting that in our film, the infected may not solely serve as villains. Viewers should expect to ponder this perspective.

The Bone Temple serves as the fourth movie in a series that kicked off with the release of 28 Days Later back in 2002. As of now, an unnamed fifth film, planned to wrap up the saga, is being worked on during production.

28 Years Later: The Bone Temple is in cinemas on 16 January 2026.
