Bullion, a fictional character modeled after Tony Baxter, an acclaimed imagineer, who is portrayed as a mining tycoon. His quest to mine gold from Big Thunder Mountain encounters unexplained obstacles that hint at the mountain’s sentient nature. This story depicts the mountain as being alive, with earthquakes and cave-ins symbolizing natural forces pushing back against Bullion’s intrusion.
The tale has been consistent throughout the Disneyland and Magic Kingdom iterations of this attraction.

Changes to the Tracks
Based on construction permits and updates, the renovation encompasses a full track replacement, electrical enhancements, and thematic changes. Various contractors are listed in the building documents, such as Coastal Steel Inc., DPR Construction, and Icarus Exhibits. The permits for these contractors will expire between March 13, 2026, and April 15, 2026, implying that the project is likely to be completed by then or around the spring vacation time.
In simple terms, photos taken in mid-2025 reveal extensive renovations happening at the site. The refurbishment process involves giving the building exteriors a fresh coat of paint, installing new sections of train tracks, and upgrading various show aspects within and near the queue area.
