Orlando Bloom reveals he is embracing his Irish roots as he signs up to get his EU passport following split from Katy Perry

Orlando Bloom, like many other British individuals, has chosen to explore his Irish ancestry to secure an Irish passport as a means of navigating Europe more freely following Brexit.

The 48-year-old actor shared that he’s applying for an Irish passport since his grandparent hailed originally from Northern Ireland.

Ryan Tubridy, an Irish broadcaster, said something along the lines of: ‘Many individuals from the UK, following a specific political decision, found themselves in search of a grandmother hidden among the cushions.’

On the Virgin Radio program, the actor from Pirates of the Caribbean chuckled and commented, “A significant part of it was related to job requirements – for instance, when I was working in Prague for some time, there was an overwhelming amount of fresh documentation to handle.

‘And also, I love the fact that I’ve got Irish heritage. That’s all it is.’

In the role of a once-great Irish boxer now living a retired life, I find myself on a journey to regain my former glory in the gripping psychological thriller “The Cut.” This compelling story hits theaters this week.

On more than one occasion, he has reminisced about his Irish heritage, as was evident when, caught off guard, he enchanted the crowd with a traditional Irish song during St. Patrick’s Day celebration in 2023.

Orlando left onlookers open-mouthed as he took to the stage at The Alma pub in Windsor.

In a casual and flowing style, the individual was spotted donning a navy-blue baseball cap and coordinating jacket before he took hold of the microphone to entertain the crowd with a taste of his gravelly voice. He serenaded them with a well-known Irish ballad, “She Moved Through the Fair.

Orlando split from his fiancée, pop star Katy Perry, 40, in June after nine years together.

They have a daughter, Daisy, four, with friends saying they remain on cordial terms.

Last month, Orlando shared the harsh truth behind his significant weight reduction – detailing the limited food options available to him and some distressing consequences.

On the morning show, the actor discussed his upcoming part in the psychological thriller film “The Cut” with Rylan Clark (age 36) and Josie Gibson (age 40). This movie delves into the topic of boxers reducing weight to transition between different weight classes.

Rylan remarked, “Your physical change was utterly incredible! I’m curious, how on earth did you pull it off?

It’s not something to be taken casually; I wouldn’t advise it for those back home. I was fortunate to have an excellent dietitian guiding me.

It was through one of my agents who had collaborated with Christian Bale that I received a recommendation. Subsequently, he arranged for me to undergo medical tests, including blood work.

‘He basically tiered me down from a three meals a day to two, to one.

All of a sudden, I found myself losing access to various food items, with my protein powder as the only remaining option. In that moment, I exclaimed, “No! Please don’t take that away from me!

‘Then basically I came down to [eating] just tuna and cucumber for the last three weeks.

As a lifestyle expert, when discussing the creative decisions behind a movie, I often share that we deliberately filmed in reverse timeline to effectively manage the physical demands and mental strain associated with our production. With each day’s shoot adding another layer of complexity, I found myself gradually depleting my energy reserves and cognitive resources – leaving me drained by the end of the day.

‘Mentally, physically, I was hangry. I was a horrible person to be around.’
