A well-known hip-hop artist is whispered to take over Snoop Dogg’s role in the AFL Grand Final performance, following speculation that he may be dropped because of his recent remarks about same-sex unions.

This week, the presenter on Nova, Nikki Osborne, stated that she has heard from acquaintances that there are rumors circulating about Eminem, aged 52, potentially replacing Snoop Dogg, also 53 years old, at the MCG on September 27.

‘Eminem’s the backup,’ Osborne told listeners.

As a devoted follower, I can share that it was proposed that, should Snoop Dogg face dismissal due to the controversy surrounding his past homophobic lyrics and recent comments about same-sex representation in children’s movies, then Eminem may step up to fill the void.

Eminem, known for his “Lose Yourself” hit, has graced the stage at other athletic gatherings before, such as the NFL Super Bowl in 2022.

Following footy star Brendan Fevola’s assertion, there are reports suggesting that Snoop Dogg may no longer serve as the main Grand Final entertainer, owing to a stir caused by some of his song lyrics and statements about women and LGBTQ+ individuals.

Some Australians are debating over the choice of a rapper to perform at the AFL’s major event, with opinions suggesting that the league may be jeopardizing its pledge to uphold respect for women.

Fevola believes the AFL will backflip and axe Snoop from his headlining gig.

He stated that they plan to fire him due to the content of his song lyrics, which mention same-sex parents, as well as his recent comments on this topic over the weekend.

‘I think he will get the a**e, and they are going to go for an Aussie artist to play at the MCG. 

‘That will happen, take that to the bank. He will get the [a**e], which he should.’

Given Snoop’s huge profile, the move would be sure to make headlines outside Australia. 

The head of Australian Football League (AFL), Andrew Dillon, has justified the reported $2 million fee given to Snoop Dogg for his performance at the Grand Final.

He stated that we can’t guarantee the accuracy of every lyric in every song from any artist, whether they’re Australian or international, that may perform on our stage in the past, present, or future.

‘It’s also important to remember that we have engaged Snoop Dogg in 2025 as the person he is today.
