The recently released murder-mystery series on Netflix, titled “The Thursday Murder Club“, is currently leading the platform’s popularity rankings.
In this movie, inspired by Richard Osman’s 2020 book with the same title, we follow the adventures of four senior citizens who transform from ordinary locals to amateur detectives when they uncover a murder mystery within their seemingly perfect neighborhood.
Featuring an illustrious ensemble comprising Helen Mirren, Ben Kingsley, Pierce Brosnan, and Celia Imrie, this eagerly awaited movie made its debut on Netflix last Thursday (28 August), and early indications suggest it has resonated well with the audience.

Based on data from FlixPatrol, the murder-mystery has become the streamer’s most popular movie, not just in the UK but globally. It surpasses other notable titles like KPop Demon Hunters and Fall for Me in terms of viewership.
On Friday, 29th August, I was among millions who tuned in to watch the movie, though it ranked second globally that day. Meanwhile, in the realm of television, the UK’s favorite series is none other than “Hostage,” while “My Life with the Walter Boys” reigns supreme on the global TV charts.

Besides the previously mentioned group, The Thursday Murder Club additionally includes notable actors such as David Tennant, Daniel Mays, Jonathan Pryce, Naomi Ackie, Tom Ellis, and Richard E. Grant, who play secondary characters.
In the movie, there was a significant absence – Sarah Niles, who was supposed to play the mother of Ackie’s character, had her role removed because of some complications that arose during the initial screen tests for the film.

At the movie’s conclusion, a series of shots showcasing the Thursday Murder Club are edited together, and one particular scene depicts Chris Hudson making his first appearance at Donna’s home, where he meets her mother for the first time – as described by the film’s director, Chris Columbus.
As a gamer, I had to pause the narrative flow in our game, because players were left with the impression that Chris was romantically pursuing Donna, which felt out of character and potentially uncomfortable for them. I didn’t want any confusion or discomfort for our audience, so I decided to clarify the situation to ensure a smooth and enjoyable gaming experience for all.
The Thursday Murder Club is streaming on Netflix now.
