The Thursday Murder Club spoilers follow.
As a gaming enthusiast who always keeps an eye out for the latest entertainment, I’m thrilled to share that the screen adaption of “The Thursday Murder Club” by Richard Osman is finally streaming on Netflix! Now, those of us who missed catching it in cinemas can sit back and enjoy the unique take this adaptation has given to the 2020 novel.
As a gaming enthusiast diving into this new adaptation, I can’t help but notice that it stirs up quite a storm among fans of the original work. Just like every other murder-mystery film out there, it seems to have its fair share of divided opinions.
What to Read Next
In simpler terms, many readers who loved the original book seem pleased with the movie, but they’ve noticed significant changes in the character of Bogdan played by Henry Lloyd-Hughes. These alterations could potentially impact the direction of the series moving ahead.
There will be major spoilers after the image, so if you haven’t seen the film yet, come back later.
In the book, Bogdan is portrayed as the murderer of Tony Curran. But in the movie, there’s a twist: instead of seeking revenge for Tony killing his best friend, he acts in self-defense when a fight between them turns deadly.
In addition, the movie portrays Bogdan getting arrested following Stephen’s discovery of his guilt, which contrasts with the book where Stephen figures out the same thing but chooses not to reveal it to anyone.
It seems that the others have discovered who committed the murder, yet they appear unfazed by the fact that Bogdan will escape legal consequences. Instead, they extend an invitation to him to join their Club.
Since Bogdan’s crime has been exposed and he is now behind bars, it seems that upcoming movies may take his character in a completely new direction – or possibly exclude him altogether.
The alterations have indeed stirred up quite a bit of debate among fans, as one person put it: “Fuming about how they handled the character’s arrest at the end. I wouldn’t recommend watching the movie before reading the book.
One user expressed their displeasure by saying, “Dear Netflix, the way you handled Bogdan’s character was inexcusable.” Another commented, “I can’t believe what they did to Bogdan! It was such a disappointment and ruined it for me.
Some supporters posted messages like “Release Bogdan immediately!” and “I strongly disliked the alteration to Bogdan’s narrative,” while another expressed that they felt the character of Bogdan was “ruined.
The Thursday Murder Club can be streamed on Netflix now.
