The tragic incident leaves profound effects on their families. Two years pass, with no clues or suspects; the case is marked as closed-until Isabel (portrayed by Kiti Mánver), the grandmother of one of the missing girls, steps in to pursue justice personally. Her relentless pursuit, fueled by desperation and a thirst for vengeance, exposes hidden truths that people didn’t want to see the light of day.

The plot involving Verónica and Marta

Initially, Verónica and Marta seem like typical teenagers heading to a local festival. But as the story unfolds, it’s revealed that they had been regularly attending exclusive parties hosted by wealthy individuals, celebrities, and even a TV host, Carlos Jaén (played by Salva Reina). These parties were marked by drug use, alcohol, and sex that was transactional in nature. Regrettably, young girls like Verónica and Marta were often exploited for the amusement of these older men.

It’s uncovered that Verónica exerted a degree of influence on Marta – persuading her to join, thinking it would be enjoyable and profitable. Nevertheless, Marta showed signs of apprehension. Her unease foreshadows the tragic event that later took Marta’s life.

The torture and death of Carlos Jaén

Carlos Jaén becomes prominently implicated as the truth about the parties is revealed. Beltrán, a piano student associated with Verónica, discloses Jaén’s participation in a network of sexual exploitation. Subsequently, Rafael Salazar (portrayed by Hovik Keuchkerian), who is Marta’s father and infamous for suspected links to organized crime, pursues Jaén.

In a particularly harsh sequence of events, Jaén is taken captive, shackled, questioned relentlessly, and ultimately meets his end in a gruesome manner, pinned beneath a vehicle. His demise serves not just as retribution for Marta, but also signifies the muffling of a voice that could have shed light on an extensive web of abuse, thereby suppressing its exposure.

Verónica is alive

In the majority of the storyline, it’s assumed that Verónica has perished. However, Marta’s corpse is discovered in the ocean, leaving Verónica still unaccounted for. Despite this, Isabel (Kiti Mánver) stubbornly persists in searching, whereas Antonio maintains that she must be deceased.

The reality eventually emerges as the tale unfolds: Verónica is still alive. Antonio orchestrated her clandestine departure from Spain following Marta’s demise, first to Morocco and subsequently with intentions to relocate to Brazil. He managed to keep in touch with her every Friday, while feigning her disappearance as permanent to the rest of the world.

When Isabel eventually locates Veronica, she learns that she is residing with Jamila Abdallah, the enigmatic third individual who was present on the fateful night Marta passed away. It turns out that Veronica and Jamila are now in a relationship and are making an effort to construct new lives, distancing themselves from their troubled past.

Verónica accidentally killed Marta and her father helped her to hide it

It turns out that Marta wasn’t killed intentionally by Jaén, but rather unintentionally during a physical altercation with Verónica.

Following Jaén’s attack on Marta, Veronica stepped in to help. Overwhelmed and distressed, Marta considered ending her life with a fragment of glass. As Veronica tried to prevent this, she received a cut on her neck during the scuffle. Terrified, Veronica pushed Marta away, which unfortunately resulted in Marta falling and striking her head severely on a stone bench, leading to her demise.
