Jelena Dokic rushed to hospital in Melbourne after covering the US Open

Jelena Dokic was hurried to a hospital in Melbourne due to an unexpected health issue that occurred after a day of reporting on the US Open.

Taking to Instagram on Friday, Jelena shared photos from the emergency room.

One showed her propped up in a hospital bed with a drip in her arm.

After wrapping up the US Open coverage an hour earlier, she posted pictures with the caption ‘finding myself unexpectedly in the emergency room.’

I’m sharing this as a friendly reminder, emphasizing its importance for our overall well-being, particularly focusing on women’s reproductive health.

Jelena revealed she was struggling with a fibroid – a non-cancerous growth in the uterus.

She remarked, “Apparently, it was considered not a significant issue because many women experience it and manage to live with it.

She said the fibroid had a ‘flare up’.

Although not always uniform, some instances may experience more impact due to factors like size, discomfort, frequent episodes, and bleeding. This was my personal experience as well.

She mentioned that she’ll need a surgical procedure towards the end of the year to take out the fibroid. She also noted that for now, it’s all about handling the pain, excessive bleeding, and any flare-ups.

Jelena shared that she had been experiencing an uneasy feeling for the past few months, and she wished to tell her story as a prompt cautionary tale for other women.

She emphasized that the purpose of this post is to serve as a significant reminder. Trust your intuition and inner feelings. If something seems unusual, don’t disregard it.

‘Even if it ends up being nothing, it’s better to be safe than something going really wrong later.

‘Don’t ignore pain and regular check-ups are crucial for early detection and can save your life.’

Jelena emphasized, “Above all, no one should ever make you believe that what you’re feeling is insignificant. Always seek another perspective and advocate fiercely for yourself and your well-being.

If you sense discomfort within yourself or feel that something isn’t right, and someone downplays your feelings, seek a second opinion without hesitation. Be relentless about getting necessary exams, tests, and check-ups; don’t accept ‘no’ as an answer to safeguarding your health.

Jelena concluded her post by expressing gratitude to the staff at Epworth Hospital in Melbourne, saying: “You’re all fantastic heroes.” (using a more informal and contemporary expression that conveys admiration and appreciation)

The post was met with an outpouring of support and well-wishes from friends and fans.

As a lifestyle connoisseur, I empathize with you wholeheartedly, for I’ve walked that path myself, offering warmth and genuine empathy.

I’ll always remember the pain and the frustrating brushes-off. Here’s to your speedy healing!”

This version maintains the original sentiment while using more casual, everyday language that is easy for most people to understand.

A supporter added a heartfelt message of love and well wishes for a woman who daily inspires them: ‘May you recover soon, a truly inspirational beauty.’

Another praised Jelena for sharing her story with: ‘Very important post. Thank you.

Navigating through the challenging phase of managing menopause, I’ve recently experienced post-procedure bleeding and have discovered a fibroid. It’s a time filled with necessary appointments and crucial decision-making sessions ahead.

‘Grateful for our healthcare system but women need to continue to advocate for their healthcare.’
