In the direction of Gareth Evans, who is known for his work on “Gangs of London,” the film titled “The Raid” was praised by The Guardian as one of the greatest action movies ever created.
More than a decade after the release of ‘The Raid’, it remains invigorating amidst today’s excessive and self-indulgent big-budget Hollywood blockbuster series. It’s not an overstatement to refer to it as a timeless masterpiece.

In addition, the movie boasts a remarkable 87% positive rating on Rotten Tomatoes, with the general agreement being that it is a creatively crafted action flick skillfully structured and cut for optimal enjoyment.
Detroit News described the film as an “extreme delight from start to finish due to its non-stop action,” while Empire magazine characterized it as a “relentless burst of adrenaline.
In Digital Spy’s initial review, we expressed that “The Raid” is brimming with novelty and thrill, potentially revolutionizing the genre.

In an interview with DS, Evans revealed that the movie initially began as a distinct production, stating: “Our intention was to create a different film first. However, when that project failed to secure funding because we couldn’t find the necessary finance, The Raid served as an alternative plan.
I had an idea for a project that would cost roughly two-thirds of the budget of our initial film, Merantau. I suggested we could bring it to life this year, provided we secure sufficient funding, and I expressed my readiness to lead its production.
Finally, after a year and a half of hearing “no”, there I was, unexpectedly sitting across from an investor one afternoon who gave us the green light for “The Raid”! This sudden turn of events left me scrambling to write the script as swiftly as possible, racing against time to shape the story.
The Raid is streaming now on Tubi.
