Unfortunately, the independent British band The Ultra Violets is profoundly affected after the unexpected demise of their drummer, Tyler Harris, mere weeks following their performance at the Isle of Wight Festival.
In an Instagram post, the band of four – fronted by vocalists Perran Nicholls and Marc Willoughby, backed by bassist Adam Knucky, and kept rhythm by drummer Tyler Harris – announced some devastating news.
They wrote: ‘This is something we never thought we’d have to write,
Unfortunately, we lost our cherished Tyler, who was more than just a son, a brother, an uncle, a partner, and a dear friend – he was also the rhythm of our hearts. Tragically, he has left us.
We kindly ask for your understanding as we request space during these challenging moments. We’ll be stepping away for a while to deal with things internally.
‘Tyler we love you with all our hearts, play that kit loud up there won’t you.’

As a devoted admirer, I couldn’t help but notice the poignant closing touch to that statement – it ended with three shattered heart emojis and the names of the resilient trio: Perran, Marc, and Adam.
In addition to the statement, the band posted a collection of pictures featuring Tyler grinning behind-the-scenes and in the recording studio. They labeled this post just: “Devastated”.
Following an outpouring of tributes from their fans, the band subsequently posted another touching message expressing gratitude for the overwhelming support they’d received.
They wrote: ‘Thank you all for the love and support, it’s been the hardest few days ever!
Tyler can’t fathom the amount of love he’s receiving currently – a love that I regret he isn’t present to witness. He truly embodied the essence of kindness and humor, making him an exceptionally delightful soul.
They concluded: ‘Thanks you again everyone keep sharing his memory (black love heart emojis).’
The news about Tyler’s demise was announced merely weeks following their remarkable performance on the main stage at the Isle of Wight Festival, a significant milestone for their growing indie band.
Originating from the picturesque coastline of Cornwall, The Ultra Violets stirred up a splash in the United Kingdom’s indie music scene with their emotionally resonant songwriting.

In the realm of music, I had the pleasure of collaborating with the esteemed producer, Dave Sanderson, known for his work with Reverend & The Makers, on my first single titled “Romance.” This delightful creation was unveiled to the world in April of 2021.
The song that commemorates a loving relationship between two individuals garnered radio play on stations like Radio X and Amazing Radio for the band.
In October 2021, they continued with a performance at Watergate Bay, which RGM Mag described as a “crowd-pleasing” track. This assessment was further validated when the band played to a crowd of 6,000 people while supporting pop legends McFly, whose audience confirmed the description.
For quite some time, The Ultra Violets have accompanied renowned indie acts like The Pigeon Detectives and Space on their tours. They’ve also graced the main stages at music festivals such as Boardmasters, Leopallooza, and the Isle of Wight Festival.
