David Mitchell and Robert Webb’s new stacked comedy series has confirmed a release date.
The show titled “Mitchell and Webb Are Not Helping” is scheduled to premiere on Channel 4 on the 5th of September. This program represents an audacious comeback for British sketch comedy, spanning generations.
As a game enthusiast, let me share some exciting news! I’m teaming up with Stevie Martin, Kiell Smith-Bynoe, Krystal Evans, and Lara Ricote – all hailing from the hit show Taskmaster. Together, we’re penning down this new series alongside the brilliant minds behind Peep Show, Mitchell and Webb. And guess what? We’ll be gracing the screen in all six episodes too! Can’t wait to dive into this epic adventure!

Upon being approached by Channel 4 for another comedy sketch series, Mitchell and Webb expressed surprise, amusement, and readiness, as stated in their official announcement.
At this moment, the industry is facing challenging times, but we are optimistically planning to revive the most complex genre of comedy. This could be an ingenious move against conventional wisdom in commissioning.

They playfully commented: “And just as Roger Moore wasn’t about to send British TV comedy plunging off a cliff with his car on the edge in For Your Eyes Only, we have no intentions of giving it that fatal push.
The pair expressed eagerness to collaborate with the fresh cast, acknowledging their youthful energy and exceptional skills. In jest, they suggested that viewers should pay close attention during commercial breaks and try hard to make a purchase.
They jokingly suggested that it didn’t necessarily need to be a car; it could be anything like a box of chocolates, an application, or another object.
Kiell Smith-Bynoe, who plays a role in the show Ghosts, shared some insights about working with comedy icons Mitchell and Webb.
Joining this project alongside comedy icons Mitchell and Webb is like finally getting a seat at the adults’ table, a place you’ve been wanting to sit for years. But once there, you find that the adults are just as hilarious, whimsical, and even let you try some Advocaat! I’m thrilled to be part of this highly anticipated return of comedy royalty.

As for Stevie Martin, the comedian looked back on doing online sketches in her early career.
Initially, I began creating sketches online since I hadn’t imagined myself performing live sketch comedy on television. Yet here I am, doing it on TV alongside the very individuals who inspired me to become a sketch comedian? Incredible!” she exclaimed.
Additionally, they have been equally enjoyable and gracious to collaborate with. Notably, David showed great kindness when I expressed my appreciation for his series, Luther. In return, I mentioned Ludwig, one of Mitchell’s murder mysteries.
Being part of this team alongside such a gifted ensemble feels like a long-cherished dream, and the added perks of complimentary biscuits and occasional pizza just make it even better. As for Ricote, she expressed immense delight at collaborating with the very best.
Ricote expressed that the team is not only entertaining but also kind-hearted and humorous, making the sketches a delight. He feels fortunate to be involved, mentioning that the joyous atmosphere of the writers’ room is now extended to acting, which feels like a cherished dream come true.
Seems like making “Mitchell and Webb Are Not Helping” must have been quite enjoyable. If it’s even half as amusing as they found it to be during production, then comedy enthusiasts are surely store for a delightful experience!
Mitchell and Webb Are Not Helping airs on Channel 4 on 5 September.
