Ronnie McDowell attributes the quick response from his son and tour manager, who used their instincts, for helping him when he had a stroke on stage over two months back.
75-year-old country music artist shared with Taste of Country the sequence of happenings during the unsettling incident at the Summer Solstice Music Festival.
On June 21, while performing in Oley, Pennsylvania, the musician hailing from Tennessee known as The Fountain Head, later discovered to have experienced a stroke by medical professionals.
McDowell seemed to be speaking indistinctly while interacting with the crowd at the summer festival concert, according to what others reported.
As a devoted admirer, I can share that during a critical moment, both my son and tour manager stepped in to ensure my well-being, as narrated by the renowned Older Women singer.
At that moment, McDowell said, “I believe I’m experiencing a stroke,” prompting him to be quickly taken to a nearby hospital.
Recognizing possible symptoms of a stroke, McDowell declared, “I think I’m having a stroke.” As a result, he was urgently transported to a nearby medical facility.

According to the lead singer, medical professionals verified that he did indeed experience a stroke, necessitating surgical intervention to remove the obstruction responsible for triggering the health crisis.
McDowell’s doctor advised him that the surgery wasn’t an immediate necessity. Instead, McDowell could return home to rest, with plans to come back later for the intricate medical treatment.
The King Is Gone singer said his doctor told him he had an abnormally-strong heart.
‘You’re good to go home now, and here’s why – I have been practicing medicine for around 30 years. Upon examining your heart, I must say it is the strongest heart I have ever encountered.’
As a die-hard admirer, I can’t help but share the revelation my beloved “In A New York Minute” artist recently disclosed about his health. In his own words, he shared that his physician pointed out the miraculous state of his heart, stating, ‘That’s what saved you. Because you were 70-80 percent blocked.’ This news serves as yet another testament to the power of his heart and the resilience it possesses.
‘He said, “Your heart was pumping through that really hard, and it scraped the plaque off.”‘
The lead singer of All Tied Up eventually needed surgery, and they later shared with a media outlet details about a problem that occurred during the operation.
For the first instance, they roused me from my slumber, and the doctor explained that regrettably, I needed to be sedated once more. A hematoma had developed, necessitating a procedure to flush it out, as he put it. This is what McDowell shared.

McDowell said that side effects from the anesthesia he was on were ‘quite unbearable.’
The country artist remarked, “Feeling dreadful due to the swelling, but I’m getting better day by day.
McDowell appeared deeply moved when discussing the wave of support he’s encountered following his health issue during the summer.
Usually, when I check my mailbox, it’s overflowing with letters, making it difficult to retrieve them. I suspect the post office might be puzzled by the surge in mail addressed to Ronnie McDowell. Yet this simply underscores the extent of care people have for me.
McDowell stated that the health scare changed his perspective on life, causing him to value each day even more deeply.
Each dawn, I find myself in awe as a devoted admirer, reflecting on the everyday miracle – me, you, every soul – assuming that our intricate world simply functions flawlessly without a second thought. Incredibly crafted, as if by an unseen master, we are truly fearfully and wonderfully made.
In an instant, life can end. Once your heart stops beating, you’ll have to leave this world.
