Leona Lewis reveals the challenges of becoming a first-time mum and juggling work as she make a huge return to the music industry

Leona Lewis has spoken out on the challenges of becoming a first-time mum and returning to work.

The singer, 40, welcomed her daughter Carmel Allegra in July 2022 with her husband Dennis Jauch.

In December 2023, following the birth of Carmel, she embarked on a UK-wide arena tour titled “Christmas, With Love.

In the most recent installment of the Nearly Parents podcast, Jamie Laing and Sophie Habboo engaged in a conversation about motherhood. During this discussion, Leona shared insights from her journey of touring while caring for a one-year-old child.

The artist mentioned that they completed a tour about two years ago, and it was quite challenging for them. They felt the need to be with their family during that time.

In these challenging times, it’s crucial to rely heavily on your family, particularly during the initial year. Family plays an extremely significant role.

‘And you know, if you can have people around you to help you, it’s really important.

My parents have been an incredible source of support in allowing me to continue my music career, even bringing my child along. Their presence has been nothing short of a priceless gift throughout my life.

To Jamie and Sophie, future parents, she advised, ‘Firstly, take advantage of your sleep as much as you can, for the lack of sleep will hit you harder than you think.’

‘Baby stage, but then I feel like, now I’m still trying to catch up on sleep from then.

It comes after the X Factor winner is set to release her first album in over ten years.

In 2006, the victor of the third season of the talent show embarked on a successful music career, however, they decided to step away for an extended period to concentrate on other endeavors.

In the interview, she disclosed the anticipated release timeline for her new music, having spent the past year working on it in the recording studio.

During a Q&A session held at 180 House in London, Leona shared that she’s been working in the recording studio for over a year now.

I’m currently immersed in the creative process, handling everything from conception to execution, which makes this a fresh and unfamiliar landscape for me.

Next year for sure promises some new developments. These are likely to be quite uncensored and authentic, with a strong, genuine feel to them.

In the 2000s decade, her first full-length album titled “Spirit” turned out to be one of the most popular records sold, while its lead track, “Bleeding Love,” claimed the title as the top-selling single for the year 2007.

Leona went on to release four more studio albums, her most recent, titled I Am, dropping in 2015.

She surpassed Olivia Newton-John’s record by having eight of her singles chart within the top 5 as the initial British female artist to do so.

During a hiatus from her musical career, Leona has been devoting her time to other pursuits, such as charitable endeavors and motherhood.

In December 2019, Leona and her spouse, Dennis Jauch, launched a vegan café named Coffee and Plants in Pasadena. As part of their business partnership with the National Forest Association, they commit to planting a tree for each beverage sold.

This year, they opened a new branch in Studio City, marking their second location. Moreover, the café collaborates with Hopefield Animal Sanctuary, where a portion of certain items’ sales are given as charitable contributions.

After Leona unveiled her latest Las Vegas residency at Voltaire, the news follows suit with previous announcements made by artists like Kylie Minogue, Christina Aguilera, and Jason Derulo.

This award-winning vocalist is set to perform her inaugural live concerts in the U.S., under the title “A Starry Night,” during the festive season at The Venetian Resort in Las Vegas.

Leona is planning to turn The Glitz Hotel into a magical winter scene, hosting an extraordinary series of performances from November 1st through January 3rd.

The winner of The X Factor will be singing her popular songs “Bleeding Love”, “Better In Time”, and the holiday favorite “One More Sleep” at this year’s festive event held in a cozy setting.

The well-known Briton expressed her joy that realizing her long-held dream of hosting a show in Las Vegas, a project she’s worked on for years, has finally become a reality.

She expressed her joy about presenting this show at Voltaire, as it has been a long time in development, specifically crafted for her audience.

For me and my loved ones, Christmas has always held a unique charm, and I find nothing comparable to the festive spirit of Las Vegas at this time of year. I am truly excited to perform onstage!

Through a post on Instagram, Leona excitedly announced: “A long-held dream is finally becoming reality! It’s set to unfold in Las Vegas this November!

Thrilled beyond words, I’m delighted to formally declare my residence at Voltaire, Venetian Vegas! I can hardly contain my enthusiasm as I look forward to sharing this exciting new phase of my life with all of you.”

This paraphrase aims to maintain the original sentiment while using more descriptive and fluid language that is easier to read.

This Christmas, Dolly Parton is scheduled to perform live at the Colosseum in Caesars Palace. Ticket prices for her residency range between £1,500 and £4,000.

Leona will similarly emulate artists such as Adele, Celine Dion, Kelly Clarkson, Rod Stewart, Elton John, Cher, Janet Jackson, Bruno Mars, and numerous others in her style.

It was Britney Spears’ long-running residency, “Britney: Piece of Me,” which began in Las Vegas at the Axis at Planet Hollywood in 2013 and continued for four years, that first drew Leona’s attention 11 years ago.

Although the exact amount Leona will earn for her 33-date residency remains uncertain, it was revealed back in 2014 that she had expressed a strong interest in having her own show, largely motivated by the prospect of a substantial income.
